Finally after a couple days I managed to reread this behemoth of a story and I must say, there's a reason this is considered one of the best Haruhi Suzumiya fics.

You're writing emulates the source material well, and the way you get into Kyon's head space as he narrates is very in keeping with the series. Also your characterization of the cast is very well spot on. Also your versions of Haruhi's parents are well made and honestly don't even feel like OCs. It's so easy to forget that you made these characters up, but they fit seamlessly into this world.

Admittedly the writing in the earlier chapters was a tiny bit weaker than the middle and later half. Mainly due to some glaring mistakes here and there, which thankfully improved as the story went on. Despite that I enjoyed the natural progression of this fic. Going from Kyon finding out his family is moving to Haruhi learning the truth. To her deciding to have him stay with her, the introduction of her parents, and theur discovery and reaction to the SOS Brigade followed by the main cast trying to save it and Haruhi's parents learning the truth. To the tournament arc and Kyoto arc. Everything was great. The only disappointing thing is knowing that the sequel is forever unfinished. But despite that I'm glad this story exists in it's completed form, and I also credit it as the inspiration for my best work on this site. So thank you author.

Pretty hype end to the tournament arc. Again I'm impressed with how good this story is. And I like how each section flows well into each other.

The tournament arc was definitely very enjoyable and the match up were great and had a fair amount of hype to them. Asahina vs Nagato was amusing. Even if the victor was obvious, you managed to make it exceptionally entertaining. The match up between Haruhi and Tsuruya was also good, and had a fair amount of build up, especially on Haruhi's side since she suspected that Kyon might be into her. Her jealousy definitely played a part in her desire to win and made for some good stakes.
Kyon(ko) vs Koizumi was both hilarious and well done as well. Obviously both male members of the SOS Brigade would want to win. Kyon was definitely the Scrappy underdog and the way he managed to come out on top was clever.
Also the interlude with Mikuru vs Tsuruya is hilarious, even if we, like poor Kyon couldn't get to see it.
Haruhi vs Yuki was definitely the climax of the tournament arc. There really could not have been a better finisher, considering that they're both power houses here. Honestly great tournament arc that would make most shonen battle manga proud.

Lot of great stuff in this chapter. Really good development of the plot with Haruhi's parents learning the truth and with Kyon convincing Koizumi and Nagato to not wipe their memories. Also the fight scene with the tentacle monster was very entertaining. A nice break away from the mostly slice of life setting to some supernatural action.

Honestly it really amazes me just how in line with the Haruhi series this story is. It definitely feels like when writing this you did your research on the characters and setting. It's very easy to get sucked into this story. I will say that earlier chapters had some glaring spelling/grammar mistakes that I didn't remember seeing when I read this story years ago. They definitely did make me pause. But despite the numerous tiny mistakes this is still a high quality fic. nd I'm pleased to note that as I've gotten further in this story there's less and less mistakes. Obviously as you write you improve.

I know this is a very old fic at this point and I've read it to death back in the day, but I am long, long overdue for rereading one of the best, if not the best, Haruhi Suzumiya fics. There is so much I'd love to gush about over this story. But I think the best thing here is the writing and the way you get into the mindset and style of Kyon's narrative from the Light Novels. It really does feel like I'm reading one when I read this story. And outside of one or two misplaced words it's damn near perfect. This story is a near masterpiece of fanfiction and I want to extend my thanks because it was a big inspiration in what I consider my best piece of writing on this site. So thank you.
