| Smithback chapter 14 . 3/16
oh, this story is awesome! please, please, more
| Guest chapter 14 . 10/11/2014
Talk about ominous. Inconsistent trends in data is the worst. Unpredictable.
It is lovely to see Mirai with Gohan's friends. He needs it more than he knows. The dialogue of that section was an utter joy to read; everyone is effortlessly witty in subtly different ways, and the burns are refreshing xD Glad to see Mirai and Gohan have had the needed difficult conversation, and made up :)
Poor Mirai. The compulsion to overtrain is impossible to resist, with stakes as high as that. But Goku is undeniably correct. And now he's ill while the data begins to fluctuate? Bad...
Looks like i've finished what's already there...will be delighted if someday you pick this up again!
It's a fantastic idea wonderfully handled, a one-of-a-kind gem of a story; too much of a waste to be dropped permanently.
Thanks for sharing, and take care! :)

Indeed, that was intense. The atmosphere was excellently conveyed. The shadows, the unseen threats, the helplessness without ki...well-done!
I agree with Mirai. Clean kills are a must in that kind of situation. I guess Gohan didn't like it because of how his bloodlust had taken over him while with Cell, but Mirai's motivations were different. And you'd think Gohan would understand the necessity of confirming kills by now, having been in live combat since five - but then again, the boy is incredibly untarnished, so i can understand this.

Well...wow. Unexpected, but really it was logical, how Vegeta reacted to duscovering Mirai is training with Goku. His opinion of Goku as a fighter is as good as it could get, and i suppose he gives credit for persistence.
Mirai getting owned by the three little ones was so funny xD Bulma says it's proof Trunks likes him? Even better xD
...Pendulum Room. Rare to see Goku hesitate. Nice that Gohan is taking some time off to help his friend and for himself! :)
| Guest chapter 11 . 10/11/2014
Either way, it is a relief to see that Vegeta treats the two Trunks-es very differently but for good reason. Young Trunks would naturally be disturbed.
I wonder what Vegeta thinks of Mirai going to train with Goku. Probably not very good things? idk...

So uncomfortable at the Briefs'...:/
It's awesome seeing Gohan and Mirai bonding though :) it's not all bad! And LOL at Mirai complaining that Gohan's been dragging him to parties every weekend, and "no you are not kicking me out at 3 in the morning" "i'll have to start charging you rent" xD
| Guest chapter 9 . 10/11/2014
Reality check...Mirai doesn't know Vegeta well, and has misunderstood his prior relative friendliness. Vegeta is disappointed and disillusioned, perhaps after so many years of having not seen Mirai and having subconsciously idealised his memory. The Mirai he remembered was so much better than them all, but the timeline difference had shifted the balance.
| Guest chapter 8 . 10/11/2014
Even Good Buu is terrifying. Sobering reality check.
And Gohan's right. Ascending to SS2 isn't even the hardest part. (I like them working together. Great team!)
I don't blame Mirai for still disliking Mr Satan. His reaction is understandable and justified, though we've gotten used to seeing him as an ally.
Oh my. The little ones sneaking about and overhearing...
| Guest chapter 7 . 10/11/2014
Oh my god. Wow. Amazing chapter. More explanation and development regarding the timelines, a bit of nice humorous relaxation - and then BAM.
Serious? Majin Buu? ...Mirai is so screwed...:
Mindblown. Did NOT see this coming. But...wow. Perfectly logical. Wonderfully executed. I am in awe.
| Guest chapter 6 . 10/11/2014
OH. Eighteen. Omg. Bad. Totally forgot about that. Oh my...
...er i guess that shock made me forget what i was going to say.
Oh yes. Am loving this story so far. The sense of urgent mystery is new, but this whole thing feels very DBZ-esque. It's wonderful. There's action, pathos, intellectual mystery. Love it.
And Vegeta is so nice, in his own way XD
Haha the bits about using electron beams to probe baryonic dark matter...hypothetical of course, but it's nice how you weaved separate existing stuff tgt into your own coherent explanation for this story. :)
| Guest chapter 5 . 10/11/2014
Ouch. Brutal reality check for Mirai, regarding ascension. (Though canon never explained why Trunks and Goten so effortlessly ascended and so young.) All the might-have-beens, the could-have-beens..
Trunks is so like Vegeta, and the sassier present-Bulma, and it's hilarious xD glad the Trunks-es are getting along though!
And LOL. Pikkon?! Nobody is falling for that, Gohan...
| Guest chapter 4 . 10/11/2014
Aww, Vegeta is nice to Mirai xD and the condition he set was clearly made in the younger Trunks' interests.
I like how nicely you described the guestroom Mirai received. The Bulma of this timeline can afford to spoil her offspring, and it shows.
Heh i didn't think of asking Dende! An unexpected stroke of inspiration from Gohan, who is no idiot himself. Very fitting; Gohan's probably the one closest to the Namekians.
The best part so far must be the reunion between Gohan and Mirai. You did not downplay or gloss over the emotional aspect of that, and did so without going in too deep. A full-out breakdown would be out of character for a seasoned veteran like Mirai, and soothing mushy words would be out of character for Gohan who can be shy and awkward at times. Your Mirai grieved quietly, heartfelt but dignified, and your Gohan sat in respectful silence with eyes averted. Wonderfully done. Loved it!
| Guest chapter 3 . 10/11/2014
Nice that Mirai Trunks isn't flippant about leaving his mother alone in the future. Canon Goku would certainly get carried away playing the hero and leave his loved ones without him.
Mirai Trunks and Goten are so cute xD
How nice, for Mirai to know that his parents are tgt. (After all, they did go and have a second child.) haha Vegeta is terse and abrupt as always, but considering the lack of belligerence and dismissiveness, he's pretty much happy to see Mirai eh xD i like your point about Vegeta being a reliable father and husband despite him being a prickly person. He does pay a lot of attention to his own Trunks, and unlike Chichi Bulma does not have to worry that her husband's priorities are not aligned with hers or that he will easily leave them.
| Guest chapter 2 . 10/11/2014
this is great. :)
10 years off?! LOL they are so screwed...
Loved the difference between Mirai engineer-Bulma and present mostly-businesswoman Bulma. Bulma's intellect serves her well either way, but the difference of war affects her specialty.
The bit about Mirai Trunks largely being able to comprehend but not fully able to absorb his mother's work was nicely realistic. He may be a genius too but he has not the experience both Bulma-s have. A lesser writer would easily be tempted to idealise his ability.
Vegeta finding his place in Capsule Corp was very nicely-done as well :) i like that while u showed the couple truly has a bond, Vegeta is still his smirking obnoxious self, and Bulma has her words and thoughts going at high speeds.

Fascinating premise! And an excellent prologue. Set up the story and atmosphere quickly and very effectively. :)
