Reviews for Blood Lines

I want to say so much, but I'm so tired. I simply had to stay up until I finished. This story is wonderful. Truly it's full of wonder. As is your writing. It's not the first story of yours that left with knowing that you have a very special gift. I love the way you tell stories. And they are beautiful. I absolutely loved the ending. I loved that Edward took his family home and how emotional he was when Carlisle told him that he'd made a lovely home for his family, knowing Edward and the house from Edward's human days. It was a touching moment. I like that you found something for Emmett's business that was both fun and practical. All of the Christmas gifts were cool and thoughtful. I was so happy that Edward maintained connection with George's school, beyond just writing a check. Rebecca found the perfect way to leverage Edward's skills, and I love that it will allow him to continue a relationship with his great granddaughter for a while longer. The scene with Edward and George's portrait, when he realizes he passed on more than just his affinity for music and wonders in awe if he would've looked Luke that had he survived to the age of George in the portrait. Then he got to hang the portrait of his son. It was just touching. I laughed heartily when their big, beautiful Christmas tree was swapped out for just a Grinch 'tree.' I love their solution to Aro's invitation and that they won't have that dire spector hanging over their heads. Just a fantastic fic. Going directly on my favorites list. Thank you for sharing your story.

Oh Zeke killed her. Luckily they have Alice. It's unfortunate that the choice of when and how was taken from them because of Zeke, but at least it was till an option. And now she gets to keep Charlie. It would've been so hard for him to loose Bella and Abby. The Cullen's were gracious to Sue, which I like. She was gracious to Edward and the baby first. Jake greening brought Zeke to Charlie's home , which was not smart. At All, but he saved Bella and Abby. Of course they wouldn't have needed saving if Zeke wasn't there, but at least Jake protected them. That was deep when Bella recited the events for Edward to transcribe and she said Edward was angry because it was Jake who stepped in as protector for his wife and daughter because he was not there. Edward made her transformation as pleasant as possible . It was just them, sort off, and they talked, cuddled and just were before he bit her.

Ah shucks, I spoke too soon. Jake was bound to show up. Vamp dad with the infant carrier is an irresistible image. LOLing at Edward referring to Renee as grandma because she was being very Renee. Rene did good with the photo shoot and the album. Rene being perceptive and observant makes better sense than her being completely observant and clueless. Why did Jake and Sue think allow Zeke in Bella's father's house.

I haven't seen the name Abby used for their baby before and I love it's meaning, and if has a nice flow. I like it more than the others they were considering, even though they were all lovely names, except for Renesme of course, Abby was different, but not unusual or too modern. I really like that Carlisle both blessed the baby and gave a prayer of thanks for her and Bella's safe delivery. Enjoyed her intro to the family and both Sue's and Billy's acceptance. And perhaps Jacob's absence in all this.

A daughter. Can I say how much I love that Bella and Edward had this time all to themselves, and that Edward was her rock through it all and not and not so riddled with angst and anxiety that his laboring wife had to summon up extra strength and energy to keep him calm and focused. I love that so much. Of course there was nerves and anxiety, but not paralyzing. He kept his head and guided her through her labor and then helped deliver her of their child. He was attentive and he listened to her whenever she needed him to back off. I was proud. Bella did well communicating her needs whenever she felt able to do so. I love that they spent early labor talking and laughing. They had a beautiful last date out before bff becoming forevermore a threesome. The airchair was so thoughtful, and his human facade of blowing it up was sweet and funny. I just knew the Astin was not going to fare well on this outting. I have in three deliveries never had the shockingexperience of my water breaking unexpectedly. The doctor pierced the sac in each delivery. Only my first baby was un-enduced though, the others were scheduled inductions. Despite that all three pregnancies were difficult and my labors were long. I recall thinking the same thing as Bella when the pain felt unbearable "-never mind, I don't want to do this anymore." LOL Up until that point, I had been so eager and excited for the experience of going through labor. Thought how magnificent and majestic and miraculous it would be. And sure in retrospect, and many years removed from the agony, the blood, sweat and the tears (actually I was in too much pain to cry or even yell, could barely breathe it seemed like!) It is beautiful and amazing. But in the throes of it, phew, I didn't think it was beautiful at all, lol. I didn't scream or curse, but I didn't want to be touched. And at some point, the talking, especially the encouraging coaching had to stop. There was only one position that gave me relief and my husband and the nurses kept moving me out of that position. And despite all of the discomfort of my labors, I am feeling so moved and so nostalgic and wistful that I'll never get to have that experience again. Thank you for such a well done chapter. It is perfect. I've not read another like it. I am reading on my kindle, so I don't always have access to WiFi to leave a review. So I can't remember if I mentioned how very special I think the nursery mural is. I adore all the thought and care that Bella and Edward put into the nursery and that they did it themselves. I love that it was Edward who told Alice, and by extension, the family, that the nursery is his and Bella's to decorate. They took their time and chose things that were special or meaningful to them. Rebecca sending Lucy's wedding ring, um wow. That was surprising, as that was a family heirloom. She must feel or sense a familial connection to Edward. I find it a shame that Edward destroyed it. I definitely get why, but...I suppose it would've seemed terribly rude to return it. Keeping it wasn't an option. I get it. I am glad that Edward verbalize that he didn't GIVE Lucy anything and she didn't GIVE him anything. She TOOK it. She plotted and conspired, and she executed a plan. I liked George very much and that 're-emerging bit of insecurity from Bella made me feel sad that Edward might always feel guilt around thinking about his son. He didn't have the chance to watch him grow, but he was wanted, cherished and adored. He had two loving, doting parents and grew into a wonderful man. He deserves to be remembered, and that shouldn't diminish the love and joy and excitement of bringing his daughter into the world. I like growling stuffed bear a lot. I love their Christmas gifts to each other. I hated that Bella walked up, and down those spiral stairs. I know exactly how tricky that is because my mother in law had spiral stairs in her home that I had great difficulty maneuvering when I was heavily pregnant with my first. Going up was hard, but coming down was scary. Thank goodness she was ok.

It was good that they got to extend their time in their bubble and not have to deal with family intrusion just yet. Very Edward to want to honor Charlie's newly acquired approval and trust by not 'defiling' his home. If I was Bella, I wouldn't be interested in vamp baseball with the Cullen's, until I was a Cullen Vamp. Edward's had another wondrous breakthrough, realizing that he has a heart and soul. I wonder why Alice felt it necessary to tell Bella immediately. Perhaps she didn't trust that she could keep blocking it from Edward and she saw that he would receive it best from Bella. So Edward is going to be a father again. How wonderful for them. I like that this time it was Bella's turn to ask Edward to come for a walk.

Oh George. Sounds like he was content, happy and ready in his final days. The letter Rebecca sent was touching and beautiful. The grant is perfect and how wonderful that Edward was able to visit and help his great granddaughter find a suitable location for the school. I love that Edward now displays cherished memories from his life rather than keeping them in a box. The journal was a perfect and thoughtful gift. I thought the same thing when Edward told Bella earlier that he would make good on their agreement. I was surprised that he still viewed it that way. Glad he course corrected how he viewed it. Marriage also shouldn't be a manipulation. But, if I was Bella I'd make his horny azz wait til the honeymoon, just because he always told her they had to wait. LOL. Nah, I'm joking. I think his meeting George and having Bella so supportive by his side, really helped Edward to see things differently. I like that he evolved and that he and Bella's relationship improved. They became more intimate emotionally, as well as physically. Making love on the day they were to be married, in the meadow would be very special. That way they'll have honored their original wedding date as well as upcoming nuptials.

It's nice that they were able to fantasize about what this child would look like if they could have one. It was a very nice touch to have Bella tell Edward that she wants to marry him. It was a great scene. LOL at Bella telling Edward that she wouldn't be able to change her bandage.

Before I mention the horror, I wanted to circle back to the touching scene from last chapter. They stayed with me. I thought it was such a beautiful, small, but very poignant moment when Edward asked George if he could put on some music for him and told George that it was one of his favorites. So lovely that they share that connection.
Now, the horror of the accident. Woman, omg! Heartfail! Why did Bella think balancing multiple boxes, while climbing a ladder and then reaching up to place those boxes in empty slots was remotely within the purview of her capabilities? She knows she's not very coordinated. Mike was there and offered.

What a special chapter. Edward not wanting to leave George with a lie, then sneaking in together an hour later. No delay. His nervousness. I had figured at some point during their initial meeting that George was communicating silently with Edward, beyond just his eyes. So George is a bit of a "soul reader" himself. I just adore the time they spent and the range of conversation they had. It's hilarious that George was gasping and shaking in laughter. It made me very happy that Lucy was a good and doting mother and that she and her husband made a good match, and that he adored George. I was really hoping that Edward would find a way to support the good work that was George's passion. Of course Edward would've married Lucy is he had known and if he survived. I mean he's a principled man of his time , raised to be a gentleman. It's not at all surprising. As fate had her way, Edward never knew and his human time came to an end, and set him on a path that would bring him to his soulmate. I'm just so happy for both George and Edward. I loved that he tucked him in and kissed his forehead goodnight, goodbye. I still wish he could be there at the end, but I'm sure there'd be no way to do that without Rebecca thinking it odd. She's perceptive and observant. The spooning! The conversation about his epiphany was very interesting. And the talk about the meadow, lol at Bella thinking it might've been a bluff. I happened to glance through some reviews and my goodness that Vero person...Like why did she keep hate reading? Who forced him or her to keep reading something they clearly found so offensive that they had to leave such ugly, nasty, rude and hateful comments. I don't understand the audacity at all. It's ridiculous.

Yay! That's for everything that happened in this chapter. For Bella sticking to her guns to go for a walk alone (and returning on time, mostly), for Edward not secretly stalking her or throwing too much of a tantrum, it's for the snippy shirt-very cute and meaningful little gift. He'll cherish that snippy shirt. Yay for he finally washing that azz, because like I wondering when Bella was going to bathe. I'll just imagine bathroom breaks along the drive, but I thought she'd shower before going to meet her future son in law. Yay for the romantic meal in, and yay for thoughtful hot chocolate run, in the rain. Yay for wet t-shirts. Yay for dancing like no one is watching and finding a sultry groove. Yay for Edward letting go and allowing Bella to feel how she effects him. Yay for Bella being respectful and cautious with his boundaries. Yay for Edward not feeling shameful afterwards. Yay for the pjs. Yay for Edward wanting to tell his son the truth! I hoped he would.

Wonderful chapter. I figured Edward misinterpreted Bella's demeanor there at the end of their visit, but I didn't figure out why he was so tense and unnerved when leaving. I thought he was overwhelmed at saying goodbye to his son. I thought it would be a kindness for him to visit George alone and tell him his story, perhaps closer to the end, but while George is lucid enough to understand. It was vert interesting to here in Edward's words how he was experiencing all of this. How he almost turned the car around, how he almost bolted when they first arrived. Very glad he didn't do either of those things because he would've had eternity to wonder and regret. I thought that when they left the home, that Rebecca would perhaps witness Edward's reflexes and strength at keeping Bella from falling. Perhaps Not exactly inhuman behavior I suppose, but given all the other oddities, perhaps... The troubled grandson makes this a bit more realistic in that no family is ever perfect. I wonder about Edward's grandson who died. Great chapter.

The dream was a reflection of Bella's insecurity about Lucy being able to be that close to Edward, but what I guess she knows, but isn't thinking rationally about is- Edward wasn't just seduced or enticed. He had those same moral hang ups about propriety back then as he does now. Actually, Bella and him have crossed many boundaries together that Edward human Edward likely never would dare to outside of marriage. Sleeping in bed together, entangled in a brace? It was good that she confessed her feelings about whether or not he found her arousing in that way. It was important that he pushed outside of his comfort zone to be truthful and vulnerable with her. I like the choice of hotel and that they didn't violate his tenants privacy by going inside his house. I loved Edward cautioning Bella to act hesitant when approaching Rebecca. Edward eating a roast beef sandwich, hah! Rebecca must've been thinking Edward seemed unnatural. When Bella mouthed "Your son" to Edward, and when he mouthed it back...my heart! The musical connection is special. I love that, and especially how he used his gift and live of music to give back and touch the lives of others less advantaged. I think that because George is frail, cannot talk well (or write, I'm guessing) and likely doesn't have a great deal of time left, Edward may reveal his true identity to his son when they are alone. I feel sad that Edward can't be a grand father to his great grand daughter (and great grand son?) Wonder is George thought Edward's hair made him think they must be some kin, lol. I guess we'll find out what it was that made Edward chuckle, but that's my guess-the hair!

I love this chapter. A stark contrast between Lucy's attitude toward Edward and Bella's. Lucy never showed any interest in Edward's interests. Edward was happy that Bella was interested and happily share that part of himself with her. I love the vulnerability of his confession that he was wary in sharing before for fear that Bella would think of him as a old fogey. The find the ball game with his siblings sounds fun.
readicted chapter 3 . 11/6/2024
Lucy violated Edward. She did not stop when he told her. She initiated the act when he was caught off guard, and was dazed and vulnerable after hitting his head. His hormonal body responded normally, just as she intended, and without his consent. At that point, I'm not clear if he initiated penetration or she did, but she certainly aggressively pushed with the exact premeditated intent. She meant to trap him with a baby so he'd forego going off to war and marry her according to her preferred timetable. Devious business! Probably not uncommon of the time, but still devious. Edward was polite, he was clear in saying no, he was caring and concerned when he thought she was hurt, he stopped immediately when she told him to, and then he gave her privacy for her modesty, and then waited for her at the foot of the stairs to escort her like the gentleman he was raised to be. All very in character with the Edward we know him to be. I'm so surprised that Bella wouldn't have been more curious about Edward's human years and his many experiences before meeting her. I surprised that vampire Edward participated in track and set records. I thought of Dash from The Incredibles, lol. And a Snippy shirt is very surprising.
