Well well...an interesting look at Gunn's personal demons you have going here, xfirefly9x. While Gunn wasn't a caricature, we really didn't get to see the deeper side of him for a while in the series IMO...maybe not until the episode where his old crew face off against his new crew in Caritas over the old gang's "let God sort 'em out" mentality.
Here though? We see that he's driven by needing to protect the innocent from harm and any failures weigh heavy on him (though the turning and eventual staking of Alonna did show that, obviously), though this drabble helps to show the inner emotional turmoil that doesn't always get expressed in dialogue or action.

So sad and so beautiful. I loved how you wrote his feelings over the loss of someone and how that someone doesn't appear to be just anyone. Lovely thoughts about her eyes, and this was a beautiful line 'he whispered his fingertips over her jaw'.
