| Laura Scofield chapter 1 . 7/12/2011
I studied Jane Eyre at school, and really loved it. I never read any fanfiction for it though, so I was taken aback when looking at your list of fics to see it there :D
I think your writing tone really suited the book's style (from what I can remember). Rochester's pov is something I was always curious about, so it was terrific to read your take on such an important moment for him. I felt very sorry for him while reading this, I think you built up the emotion wonderfully :D

Poor Mr. Rochester!

Oh, I haven't ever come across a Jane Eyre fanfiction yet, and I'm so pleased to have found this! You have, I believe, captured the essence of Austen.
Liked this line especially:
"Calling for Mrs Fairfax, I commanded her:
'Fetch me Jane Eyre!'
and she was away."
That was typical Rochester. Splendid job, dear, splendid job indeed.

I am a newbie-but-lover-of-Jane Eyre and particulary like the diction and tone of your story. It is certainly well written and in keeping with Miss Bronte's lovely language.

Really powerfully written.
Sometimes this kind of reflection can get kind of "deep"-overly dramatic and too sentimental. But you have done a wonderful job of channeling Edward's emotions without getting gushy.
