Great story! Your Spike and Dawn characterizations seem right on. You've balanced the different and opposing facets of Spike's personality very well. And you used the word "tatterdemalion!" Sorry, I just always liked that word.

This is great. You nailed Dawn's mood in pre-Bargaining days, and Spike's reactions are funny and very true to the character. Particularly loved his musings on turning her - it's such a warped way of showing affection, and so very Spike. Keep writing!
