manda2784 chapter 1 . 8/10/2009 Great first chapter! I love how close Bella and her dad are. It's breaking my heart that she'll lose him when the Arizona goes down. |
profmom72 chapter 3 . 8/10/2009 Oh sheesh, you are too sweet! I love these two, and I'm so excited to see what comes next. Bella's innocense is gone on morthan one level. She has learned so much but obviously the story has a long way to go. There will have to be very interesting conflicts along the way. |
Twilightobsessed09 chapter 3 . 8/10/2009 Really good aside from reading it already in Infamy I couldn't resist. So six weeks alot can happen in six weeks. Reading this over has been sort of heartbreaking for me as they feel like memories through her eyes sometimes. But I anxiously await chapter 4 and hoping to be proven wrong in my guesses. Terrific writing to captivate your audience with such depth... Looking forward to the rest... |
daisy3853 chapter 3 . 8/10/2009 Okay, here we go again. No matter how many times I read this, and at this point it's been double-digits I think, I am still struck by the emotion. I love how you built the tension while the girls are waiting for news... How do you sit through the day like that? No idea. Okay get ready... cue tears... i know it's coming... "When he stepped out of the jeep and looked at me, I knew my father was dead." and here we are. Once again, I really admire this section about Charlie's death. It's told with such simplicity, I think it does the event and Charlie justice... The simple style you've used really has so much impact and conveys the honor, loss, and grief so so well. "I didn't cry. I couldn't. The loss of my father was the loss of everything I had and everything I had ever known. I had no father, no family, and no home. The loss was too devastating for mere tears." *sob* "He had soot on his face and clothes, his pants were ripped, his hair was in complete disarray, and he was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen." and *that* is a beautiful line. Then of course we have my favorite line: "When they stepped back from him, he took three long strides towards me, lifted me, and took me in his arms. He held me tight and whispered in my ear, "I'm so sorry. I'll give you a home. You won't be alone, I promise." I had been wrong when I thought there was nothing in the world that made me feel as safe as a hug from my father. That was before I had Edward." I'm struck here by how she sort of acknowledges the shift in her needs... from her father to Edward. Oh Alice. *shakes head* I love that he cries when he's alone with her. A man should be able to cry, especially when they see things as horrifying as he did. I'm glad she can be there to soothe him. The rings... *happy tears*. Warmed my little 24-year-old heart. Once again... I REALLY respect the way you handled their virgin sex. No super-Os brought to you courtesy of the magic sparkle peen. It's realistic, naive, slightly bumbling, but still beautiful. You rock bb. You damn well better write a lot of letters, Edward. Six weeks... *sob*. I admire both of them so much. Edward for being a man and doing what he knows is right... Bella for supporting and loving him, recognizing that she has to watch him walk away, knowing he could be walking away for good. But also understanding that it's something he has to do. I can't imagine doing the same, and I hope I never stand in her shoes. Thank you for writing and sharing this story with us. It might not be GWTW, but it means a lot to me, and your words make me laugh and cry... what else matters? Love you mm. x-( |

Orioncat chapter 3 . 8/10/2009 Can't wait for you next update! I love this story and I love this time period. It was so defining and it made people like my Mema some of the best people in the world who had suffered so much. The generation of World War II has so much to teach us and I wish people would listen. Thanks so much for having the courage to post...Because I know how much courage it takes. tinkytinka chapter 3 . 8/10/2009 Love this story! And of course this last piece from Infamy. :o) It's really nice with something in a different time period then a lot of the other twifics. I'm so excited to read the next chapters, it is so open what can/will happen in the story, which is going to be awesome to read! :o) |
LikeToRead22 chapter 3 . 8/10/2009 I like your additions to this chapter, Jenn. I really like Charlie giving Bella his approval. And, the night they spend together is so innocent and so sweet. I love the way you wrote that. I'm really looking forward to more! |

Lucette212 chapter 2 . 8/2/2009 Ahh - I loved seeing some more Charlie and I really liked seeing that he knows what is happening between Bella and Edward - even if they haven't admitted it to themselves. I can't help feeling he might be a bit of a guardian angel for them going forward. The discussion about what Bella wanted to do was so spot on for this era - even reading now it made my blood boil thinking of all the girls whoc where told they should be nurses because boys needed the "career" opportunity! Gah! I'm so happy that both Edward and Charlie are supportive of Bella in this. It also made me realise that Edward is knid of following in Charlie's footsteps while Bella follows in Carlisle's which is a nice symmetry. The additional scenes on the couch were good because I really like seeing that sonflict of Edward wanting Bella so much but knowing they can't go too far. Bella is too naive in the moment to be able to put the brakes on herself. Thanks for the update. |
