This is so sad. I know he is doing the best he can, but it's still hard breaking to know how true to life this really is.

I can't believe I just found this. Great first chapter, I'm intrigued. I can't imagine what is going through Anthony's head. And Edward's...

Poor Anthony. He seems to be the victim of the whole disaster. Lost his mom, grandmom and even somehow his grandpa and now he needs to live with his unknown father who is absolutely helpless in raising a child. Yeah, Edward makes many mistakes in this chapter. But I like that you keep it realistic. No sudden knowledge and skills how to treat a child - he is actually helpless! Furthermore I really like that he is in a really uncomfortable situation with his job and not a rich born child (or maybe he is. After all we don't know his parents. But he doesn't have any contact).

So, I'm curious how Edward will develop and mature in this story. He needs to grow up soon for even having the possibility to have a decent relationship with his son. Furthermore I'm interested how the first meeting between Bella and Edward will be. Somehow I doubt they instantly fall in love ;).

God. What a nightmare!

That was such a sad chapter. It made me want to go take little Anthony home with me. He seems so small and precious. I can't wait until Edward starts getting his act together. Thanks for the update, and I hope to read the next one soon!

this story is so disfuctionally good. I love how edward isnt perfect, it makes it more real. I cant for bella and edward to meet.

Rough Start is a good title but you might want to add "extremely" in front of it. It's so sad to read (it's well written though). I remember the days of children sick with ear infections and still having to go to work (was in the military). I at least had a support system and money. Hope it gets less rough soon cause it's heartbreaking right now.

My heart just breaks for little Anthony. He has lost everyone he ever loved and know, has been thrown into a situation where he isn't wanted and isn't taken care of. I can tell you as a teacher, I am very surprised Child Services hasn't been called into the situation. Bella can clearly see neglect.

I do feel for Edward too, but he is an adult. I understand how difficult it is when your job is on the line with missing work, but that isn't a choice he has anymore. He needs to wake up and take responsibility for his actions.

I hope he can remedy this for Anthony.

Oh crap! I feel so bad for Anthony and Edward. Anthony because he lost his mommy and he's bascially living with a stranger, even thought that stranger is his father...that has to be scary.

And poor Edward...he doesnt know what the fuck to do! I cant wait til he meets Bella. And I think he's going to have to suck it up...and contact his parents. He needs all the help he can get!

I feel so badly for poor Anthony. I know Edward wasn't expecting to have a son, but he really needs to learn a little about kids so he can take care of his son. I just want to take sweet little Anthony and cuddle him. I'm glad the Edward finally realized that he's still mourning his losses, but I wish he would try to find a little help because he desperately needs it. Looking forward to more!
