I am in love with this line: "...that fork that allowed for either rationalization or insanity, and nothing in between."

Agreed! I love female interaction on Bones.

I love how you have Brennan calmly state that her claim to a grandfather is false, meant to disperse discomfort, and is something she hasn't even told Booth. I like that you have her say that she's read about non-biological caretakers and that she's willing to discuss them, but that she shows the insight to know that it won't make a difference. And the line about knowing there will not be rejection, and about not being as lucky as Michelle, which is a great ending. Very nice parallels between the two situations. I really liked how the show dealt with Cam and Michelle and I like how you have Cam approach Brennan for further advice here.

Love it! I almost teared up... I like how you used limited 3rd POV to bring Cam (an often neglected secondary character) into the picture, and yet focused more on Brennan, in the end. It's especially poignant from Cam's perspective, I think, since she views Brennan relatively objectively. Her quiet, respectful acknowledgment is somehow more powerful than an emotional outburst (from Booth or Angela) would be.

You've got my brain stirring about that fork, the one where it was logic or insanity. Might borrow it. Might not, cause I'm not sure I can go that deep into the darkness. Then again... Maybe I'm darker then I think.
