| just a girl chapter 1 . 12/21/2010
First I want to say: Your poem is lovely, great, wonderful, . . . I could go on this way forever!
Second: you are very talented, I'm sure you would be a great author.
This is the first review I have ever written, your poem is the first text which impresses me like this.
I want to thank you for sharing this work of you with others. Unfortunately, I never was in Rome, but I once visited Florence. So I think I can a little bit imagine how you were feeling - Italy is country which makes you dreaming and forgetting yourself.
Finally I want to excuse me - English is not my mother tongue (I'm german), so sorry if there are any spelling-/writing mistakes.

Oh wow, that was really good!
| xXxalexandraxXx chapter 1 . 12/7/2004
I love the poem! You give out so many feelings! It's so in depth that i can visualise myself in Rome! I've been to see Rome and the colussem but I went before I watched Gladiator so I didn't give much particular thought of Commudus but now I have watched Gladiator I want to go back to Rome and expericence it again! When I went into the Colessum I felt loads of people had died and felt miserable there but it really fasinated me! It's a very good poem and it's always good too show your talent! I myself write poems maybe not of commudus but I think i could be doing some in the future thanks to your inspiring poem!

Wow! I feel like I'm actually there watching this. It's very good, most likely my favourite out of your poems.

| TheEmperor chapter 1 . 3/24/2003
See... I promised you a review and I'm a woman of my word! First, I am BEYOND jealous. I want to go to Rome so bad! That must have been quite the experience, I can see how it would inspire such a lovely poem. Honestly, I really like it! It's deep but not so deep that you can't see the bottom... (that's my own attempt at saying something deep...)
| Lady Cheshire chapter 1 . 8/8/2002
Beautiful. Aren't villains the best?
| Chrisi chapter 1 . 4/3/2002
Obwohl ich all deine Commodus Gedichte einfach wunderschön finde, bleibt dies hier mein Lieblingsstück. Ich habe dir bereits in der Mail gesagt, warum...
Vielen Dank, dass du das geschrieben hast!
| Tabby J Skylark chapter 1 . 3/17/2002
I absolutely love the "go further" stanza. I find it quite effective. A different level of reality keeps poking through thanks to your repetition. Sweet deal. _

All I can say is: DEEP
| Marxbros too lazy to sign in chapter 1 . 1/15/2002
Heeey, Violett, this is excellent. I feel like this was what you were trying to get at with your other two poems...you achieve a haunting, timeless quality with this that I think you don't quite get with "Hymn to the defied emperor." I have a few grammatical quibbles...like "The Past / And Me / Is one" (should be "are one"?) But overall you did a really nice job with this. I like the image of you watching Commodus die, but at the same time you are watching the ruins of Imperial Rome so we know what it to come...it is chilling and haunting (which is a word I've already used but I think its perfect for this piece.) Anyway, nice job!
