Reviews for Fort Liard |

![]() ![]() ![]() I have been remiss in not ever commenting on this, because I'm usually not signed in when I'm in a reading mood. There are some fanfics that you read and can remember years later - this is one of those for me. I loved Due South when it was on and your story is well-written, in character, and entirely believable. I've been rewatching shows with the quarantines in place and came back to read after watching the show because I love this ending. Thanks for sharing your vision! |
![]() ![]() ![]() I was a big fan of Due South. What a delight to come across this wonderfully written story about Inspector Thatcher and Constable Benton Fraser. The community of Fort Liard, in this writer's masterful hand, rings true as a northern settlement, north of the 60th parallel. A very satisfying A/U read. You have deftly handled the complex relationship that Meg and Ben had on the show and have carried it into this story. Thank you. |
![]() ![]() ![]() This is the most mature fic I have ever read... Most fics with this ship they jus go straight to bed. This was so much more real... and you made me feel that their marriage will surely last. Thank you for a great fic. |
![]() ![]() ![]() One of the best post-series fan fictions out there for Ben/Meg shippers. A well thought out, well written fic. |
![]() ![]() I liked that Meg was not a "villain" in this story. She was just a normal flawed human, not a "damsel in distress". I often thought Frasser played dumb Mountie to get what he needed. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I noticed that this story took several years to complete, and I just wanted to thank you for sticking with it and finishing it. This is the only DS story I have read which is completely true to the characters of Meg and Ben. Granted, I haven't read many, but I usually click off of them after a couple of paragraphs. There was so much truth of emotion here, so much REAL LIFE. Your phrasing and pace are wonderful and this story was absolutely a privilege to read. Thanks for sharing your imagination with us and for doing the character of Benton Fraser honor. |
![]() ![]() Found this last night, what a wonderful story. I loved how you have potrayed Meg and Ben. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I have loved this story for years! I am now living in northern Canada working on a small, remote reservation and just made it through my first winter. I wanted to read this again (although I believe I first read it on another site) after I caught a few episodes of it the other night on TV (ATQH was ironically airing). |
![]() ![]() ![]() What a wonderful story. I especially love your portrayal of the children in various scenes. Ben and Meg have such an unconventional relationship, and I love how you have developed it. |
![]() ![]() ![]() You've written an excellent story here. I like they way you've kept Ben and Meg so in character but a little more matured. I guess distance helps put things in perspective. I also enjoy reading the way you describe the scenes, you paint the picture well. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Thank you so much! This is one of the best things that I've read over the years. Seriously. Thank you very much! |
![]() ![]() ![]() Amazing beautiful story! Really really enjoyed it |
![]() ![]() ![]() fantastico! |
![]() ![]() I had just pulled out my due south dvds recently and watched all episodes again after years, and I felt the same urge as last time, to read as much ben/meg fanfiction as I can ;) Thank you for your wonderful story! It's rare to find a story where everyone is in character and which is as fulfillingly entertaining as much as yours. I'd love to see you continue writing DS stories in the universe you created here. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed this story. I really, really appreciate your excellent writing, the attention to detail, your grasp of the characters and the way you clearly spent time researching the geography, etc., of your story locations. Not only does this story give us an amazing look into the future of our favorite characters, it's intelligently written and I believe it could be enjoyed even by someone not familiar with DS. Thank you so much for writing and for sharing. I hope you'll consider writing some more DS in the future! |
