| bookivore chapter 1 . 8/31/2010
I'd like to have seen Snape reply to what Dumbledore says. But it would be out of character for him to mouth off to Dumbledore, of course. It would be interesting if he would convey his distrust through body language or some such - and see whether Dumbledore even acknowledges it - before the line about never showing up.
And on the other hand the whole idea of Dumbledore taking the time to invite young Snape to a meeting when the limits of his approachability even to Harry was saying "Is there something you would like to tell me?" and letting him stand in the hall guessing candy names -well that got convoluted - in any case, it is fairly unbelievable. Dumbledore was all public smiles, no actual work put into relationships, at least as far as the most important student in his life shows.

Um...does Dumbledore really think Snape will like the Marauders? Or that they'll cooperate with Snape part of the group? Yes, Lily is there-but watching her with James would not be pleasant for him (and James would definitely emphasize his ownership of her with Severus around).
Good one-shot, though, and well-written.
