This was very, very good. Your characterization of Tom, I think, was spot on. It's just the way I picture him and the crew's opinion of him. 'my reputation greatly exceeds my deeds'. You know, in the show, he always struck me as more the type to flirt and just stick with flirting and take it no farther. He always struck me as secretly big on commitment; every time we see him in a romantic relationship, he marries her. He marries Kes in an alternate future. His 'gray-goo-clone' marries B'Elanna's 'gray-goo-clone' and he is supposedly a completely accurate copy of him. He refuses to take advantage of B'Elanna during that Pon Far episode, and then actually marries her. So yeah, I think his reputation is artificial and all bluff.
