This was one of my fav scenes from gsd I think it was the first moment that Kira showed to us the audience how much Lacus means to him. The fact that he was willing to taint his handin blood again to defend and protect his love is touching. And the fact that Lacus was trying to protect him to the end was heartfelt. Thanks for capturing that feeling in your story.

I agree that Shin doesn't have the same remorse for killing opposing pilots that most of the others show in the two series, I believe this is because he has less incentive to in general because he's actively rewarded for some of the things he does while in a semi-berserk state. If I remember correctly in Seed many people were similar early on, Dearka and Ysak in particular, but grew up some over the course of the series. Shin however has serious psychological trauma he doesn't deal with that is only added to throughout most of the series. Rey adds to the problem by using those traumas to manipulate Shin while at the same time preventing him from actually dealing with them and moving on. I don't particularly like Shin either, but I feel he would be more likable after getting a chance to grow up a bit post Destiny.

On a different note, Ysak had no way of knowing that it was civilians on that shuttle when he shot it down, and thought he was taking out future opponents early, for the situation he was in with the available info he made what is strategically the correct decision, and from what I understand he was somewhat devastated when he learned they were civilians.

What you're gonna do with Nicol? First I nearly jumped in joy seeing that he is Luna's sweetheart and onboard Minerva, but now he is slowly becoming same as Shinn in canon and angers me greatly. That means in the end all people in Minerva will be nothing more than ZAFT's and more importantly Gaybert Durandal's bootlickers!

OwO such lengthy fic 3 I appreciate the amount of details and (additions) you put in this story. It makes the flow of events more interesting. To be honest, I found the original story of GSD nothing truly captivating, at least until Kira and Lacus emerging to take the lead.
I love the Freedom too! Shame it was destroyed by bratty Shinn. But at least it gave the Strike Freedom a chance to shine.
I agree with Rau being the most skilled and deadly pilot in GS, at least until Kira took control of his raging emotion and surpassed him.
Y'know, everytime I read canon fic about GSD, I always wonder what's the point of having a character like Shinn as the lead... he bore me out until the second half where Archangel started appearing. It's a good thing the guys doing GS didn't kill Kira off like in the original idea...

I agree with you.. if Kira did realise sooner how much a treat the Impulse and his pilot was that he had to kill just like the Destroyer Gundam then Kira would have won anytime and anyday. Then agin this gives the perfect opportunity for the Strike Freedom to come out of the skies and start kicking butt.

In my own personal opinion I think Kira is by far the most dangerous pilot, after all, with absolutely zero combat training he managed to get the strike working, fend off the other four G-weapons and their support suits and do that with only taking minor damage to his own suit (he never really lost any limbs or head), at least till the Strike was destroyed. And that was all before he even got his more advanced suits from his wifey.

Beyond Kira I'd say that yes Rau is the second most dangerous pilot. maddness zero shits given about his own safety a bad time for everyone else.

I always thought Rey was the author's way of trying to recreate the amazing villain that was Rau, and Shinn... he was just an immature brat who thought only of himself and didn't really realize just what was going on until it was far too late
anyway, great to see another update.

SO Ijust read through all of this, not in one go, of course. I really enjoy your spin on this, so far. I was kind if hoping for some insight on Gil and Talia in the earlier chapters, but that's my personal bias talking because thy are my fav , anyway moving on from that, Iwanted to mention that you handle writing combat well, it's not overly technical (thank goodness), but it still captures the fights well.

Now the only real complaints I have for this fic, is that I feel that, Nicol, is taking too much away from the Rey, Luna, and Shin dynamic.

Otherwise I have really enjoyed reading this.
