Reviews for Becoming Jane
qhrciskrpc chapter 1 . 4/20/2015
Good story.
You might want to check me but i read in SM's twitight companion guide that jane was 2500 years old and english. Don't know enough history to be sure, but i think that makes her celtic. They are reputed to have been a very crule people. (The ones that built stone henge).
Shawna chapter 1 . 12/2/2014
Great one-shot of Jane! I really liked how Jane got revenge on the Sister. I will definitely be checking out Creating Alec! I'd love to read this from his pov! Keep up the good work!

I finally decided to read this. Of course, it is practically
LORE in the Fanfic community. I see now, why. Very
intense, and so true to the original canon. Kudos.

Almecestris chapter 1 . 4/5/2013
Wow. Very scary and very-canon. This fic made me hate, love and be scared of Jane all at the same time. Great job!
JaneIsCool chapter 1 . 3/20/2013
Oh my god this was fantastic! You described everything so well! I felt like You put me right in the center of the story, overlooking everything that was happening. Jane is one of my favorite characters, and the way that you write her, like everything else in the story is amazing and SO accurate. Fantastic job. This was so well done.
Guest chapter 1 . 3/6/2013

Found this on someone's favorites list, and I'm happy to have read it. Wonderful and insightful, if not disturbing background on Jane, definitely makes sense with canon.

Well done.
FellowsheepOfThePeen chapter 1 . 9/11/2011
givemesomevamp recommended your story on our site, , on Sunday, September 11, 2011:

I don’t know about y’all, but I’m a glutton for juicy back stories – especially those belonging to the characters SM didn’t have the time to flush out in the actual books. Before I found fanfiction, I stalked her website and all of her interviews for those juicy little morsels of history, for glimpses of who these characters we only knew by name and quick descript really were. And then I found FFn. *le fuckin’ sigh*

Today I still love a character’s back story – whether completely original or expanded canon – and this fic just encourages me to keep on devouring. But not for Jane. Because this will always be Jane’s history for me. So you can understand that even with many more eloquent recs, award nominations, and impressive wins (such as the Indies’ First Time Writer Winner Judges’ Selection for Best Canon) to its name, I wanted to bring it to your attention. Just in case you somehow overlooked this little gem of a one-shot.

First she sets the grisly scene in which Jane and Alec are being burned at the stake, accused of being witches:

I can quite easily recall the putrid stench of horse manure and rotting refuse that always tainted the air of the Volterra Square in those days. I can clearly recollect the distinct scent of burning pitch as the cypress wood blazed under me with creaking groans. Even more so, I can hear the echo of the screaming, faceless mob whipped into an ignorant frenzy encouraged by their Church. But above all else, I can remember feeling the hellish inferno of hungry, lapping flames that savored the taste of my bare toes and legs with greedy expectation, hissing cruelly while the smoke swirled relentlessly around my head.

Her imagery is so strong throughout, I can almost hear their cries and feel the heat of the flames. But what truly draws me into the scene is Jane’s defiant attitude – even in the face of such a horrible death:

The mob was eager. These peasants had been stripped of all humanity and compassion and clamored excitedly for more wood. The Church had brainwashed them, and like mindless sheep they obeyed with absolute unquestioning acquiescence. They shrieked with frenzied enthusiasm, enraptured with the imminence of our gruesome death. Their cheers were the only sound I could discern over the loud crackling of the tinder quickly burning to ash beneath my feet.

“WITCHES!” One somehow managed to scream louder than the others.

“Heretics!” They spat with hatred. It was a word I’d grown exceedingly impatient with as of late.

“Murderess!” They shrieked at me. I merely pushed my chin out in defiance.

I always love a girl with spirit. Of course, she did know something they didn’t…

But I don’t want to give anything else away.

LoreliD beautifully tells the tale of how the psychopathic vampire came to be. Not only did I actually feel sorry for Jane by the end, I wanted her to have her revenge. I also enjoyed the little glimpses of the beginning of Jane and Aro’s relationship:

“Come, let’s have it Aro. What magic does this one hold?” Marcus pressed with an impatient wave toward me.

Master Aro glided toward me then, “With her look,” he whispered as he raised his hand and softly brushed my cheek, “she will bring men to their knees,” he finished with reverence.

Read it! And when you’re done reviewing, scamper on over to her companion story entitled Creating Alec.
Pattyspunkransom chapter 1 . 3/3/2011
Amazing! I was spellbound! I have tried many times to invision Janes story but could never come up with anything. You nailed it. I could almost feel the dampness, smell the stench and the fragrance. The pain and fear were there, as well!Aro is one of my favorites in the Saga. His relationship to Jane was of great interest to done! Thank You

I found this story on Fictionators and I love it! Not many people can pull off horror like you. It's a job well done. D
LBF chapter 1 . 12/17/2010
Very good story. I like the Jane stories and enjoy reading them.
Jane's Rage chapter 1 . 11/28/2010
This was wholly effin' awesome from start to finish. My namesake definitely showed her rage and sought her revenge. She was very justified though... not as much of a monster as people would have her be. There was reason to her chaos. Excellent writing.
