| Mell23 chapter 1 . 5/22/2012
I really liked this story. I think it portrayed the real Katie. Because when you think about, Katie didn't have friends. She only had Emily. So of course when Emily ditched her for Naomi she rebelled - she felt lost and alone. This is why I don't understand how people say they don't like Katie. Katie is part of all of us I think - afraid of being judged and ignored and alone. I feel bad for her - because she ended up with nothing. Anyways, I love the way you wrote this!
| Miss Peg chapter 1 . 10/25/2009
"What right do they have to call her a slut?"
- that is one of the most significant lines to represent Katie in my opinion. You've got her down to a T - her like of tight clothes, showing herself off, popularity and how she focuses on that because it's something she wants. But none of that means she's a slut and she's right, what right does anyone have to call her such?
"she's a little scared of being alone and the loneliness it brings."
- some really true and heartbreakings lines here that speak volumes. I love that you're putting in her vulnerability. She NEEDS a boyfriend and not because she wants love or sex or anything...but because without one is scarier than having one. Katie breaks my heart every time I read/think about her.
"Emily's her only friend."
- wanting to cry for Katie right about now. You're just capturing Katie so well, her vulnerability when it comes to her sister, when it comes to the one person she has a connection with and fears losing. It actually makes me wonder just what WOULD happen if she did lose Emily.
"It's funny how she's always wanted to be herself and not attached to her twin, " - it's weird because so many things suggest that Katie is the one who doesn't want to be the twin, E4 promoted Katie as the twin who was trying to break free. But in reality it's Emily who is doing that and it's good that you've got that line in there because it shows just how contradictory the whole thing is; Katie pulling away when at the same time she's pulling Emily back.
"Being noticed means that you don't get ignored." - I keep finding lines that really stand out, lines that I want to talk about, lol. Like this one. It speaks volumes and in a way it kind of sums up what Katie is all about in my opinion. If she doesn't get noticed...maybe she'll get ignored and I imagine that would be just as scary to Katie as being alone because the two really come hand in hand. And the irony is that if she was the nice person that we all know she has deep down, then maybe people would never ignore her because she could grab people's attentions by just being a good person.
"And at least being a bitch means that she knows where she stands." - argh, Katie, Katie, Katie...heart breaking, breaking heart.
Such a good ficlet, such a strong representation of our beautiful Katie and what goes on in that brain of hers. Her lack of confidence is there and her bitch is a mask...and well lets face it, you just described her perfectly the whole way through this, putting together pieces of the puzzle that is Katie Fitch.
I'm trying to think who CA SJ are...but I really can't. For a moment I thought Chris and his teacher friend, but his surname isn't A...! Care to tell? :-P OH, Google helps - Sid and Cassie?

I feel so ashamed; i have no idea who CA SJ are!
Tell me :)
Great story, btw. Katie really is just as insecure as everyone else, but is just better at hiding it.
