Merlin, who, according to HP wiki, was a Slytherin who also advocated and supported Muggle rights, in case you didn't know. The whole prejudice thing probably hadn't always been around, and I imagine those portraits who were disapproving of Dippet's decision lived sometime during Merlin's revolution... If you /did/ know about Merlin, then I have to say that the portraits tidbit was a really nice touch.

I love it. I will admit that I would like to see Harry's thoughts on her work as a spirit watching over his "wife and son." I would get a kick out of it. You did a wonderful job. Now I want to see what happens next.

A beautifully written story. The pacing was nice, and the rising tension led quite believably to its inevitable conclusion. The sense of despair, fear and hope woven into the background is fascinating. Thank you for writing this little gem, because every child deserves a mother who loves them.

The more things change, the more they stay the same, hehe...it's obvious in this story that the man who would be Voldemort in another life was always destined to bring about something dramatic in the Wizarding World. My only complaint about this story is that where you left it off really left me wanting more, either as an epilogue or anything, to let us know more about how this alternate world was going to carry itself forward and just what Thomas has planned or intends to do...very well written story, I loved this, I *always* love a good "what-if" scenario or exploring how changing one tiny detail can turn the whole entire universe inside out and over on its head.

This is really good. I really liked the cadence of the writing - it has a flow to it that lets the tragedy and love come through at once. A very thought-provoking premise, too. Part of the terrible beauty of the HP world is that if you start unraveling some of the threads to their logical conclusions, you can go to some truly terrifying places. You've definitely found one such thread.
