I also find myself shipping Greagoir/Wynne. I imagine it's a very sad story though, like you've shown here. The ribbon was very touching.
And I'm glad to see Leliana. I was wondering when she'd show up!
| CC chapter 13 . 12/3/2009
So beautiful. Both Cullen and Therrin are so TRUE, if that makes any sense. You're the one that made me roll a female mage, you know!
| tjadis chapter 14 . 12/3/2009
This is *wonderful*. The Wynne/Greagoir thing just makes *sense* (and it was nicely foreshadowed!), and I just feel for everyone involved. It's heartbreaking and lovely.
| FaeTian chapter 13 . 12/3/2009
I have been reading this story since you first posted chapter one and I think it's about time I step out from the shadows and leave you a review. _
*ahem* First I'd like to say that I've always LOVED the idea of Cullen getting together with the female mage. What can I say, I'm a sucker for forbidden love. XD A relationship between those two makes for a very interesting and romantic story. :3
I really enjoy your style of writing. It flows together very nicely, and it has a perfect amount of description: not too much and not too little.
The plot is looking good and I can't wait to see where it is going. Especially for Cullen and Therrin. X3
Thank you for sharing this story with us. It's a great read for us Cullen/Female mage lovers. XD
Keep up the good work!

I have to say... this is one of the first stories I read on this site and... I'm still loving it. lol. If this were a book I could buy somewhere I would buy ten copies and hand them to everyone I know. :) Everything about this is top notch but what I really love is the description. You feel it... the winter... the raw grief... the stolen moments. The dialogue is good, but it all the layers around it that really make it sing. I also love that you're not rushing... although part of me is just absolutely desperate to see them get together, it's so fantastic to see you explore their characters so throughly on your way there. I feel like when that time comes we'll all be saying how genius it is and that the wait was worth it. :) So... here I am waiting not-so-patiently for that moment, and knowing it will be great. And of course... Dog. Can't get enough of his adorableness. lol. Looking forward to the next chapter!

Sniff...between this chapter and the last I have to admit you're taking me on a bit of an emotional rollercoaster. Very excellent work, well written and the characters are wonderfully thought out. One of the absolute best fics out there for sure! Thanks again for sharing this with us, its been great fun to read thus far - keep up the wonderful writing!
| Donroth chapter 13 . 11/30/2009
I really adore this story. Just wanted you to know that I made a human mage named Therrin because of this. Thank you for updating so frequently. Seeing a new update really makes my day. I really love how you've developed the relationship between Therrin and Cullen. I also love dog's POV. I know I still don't have any "constructive criticism" to give, but I figured I'd come out of lurkdom just to let you know how much I appreciate your story and frequent updates.
| technoir chapter 13 . 11/30/2009
"Greagoir dies in the bleakest part of late winter."
You know, I have been reading this story since the very beginning, and for some reason, this particular line hit me like a punch in the stomach. I actually said, "What? No!" aloud, haha. I can honestly say that I wasn't expecting it in the least. Don't get me wrong, though - this isn't a complaint, at all! As tragic as all of it is, I think the ending portion of this chapter is one of the best you've written yet.
That's not to say I haven't enjoyed the rest, but you're ability to write moods and pull reactions from your readers is excellent, and I think it showed itself best at the end of this chapter. Now I can't help but wonder where you're going to take this story, because I can see this new development leading to both good or bad things. I can't wait to see what you've got in store!
Of course, now I'm going to be F5ing like a maniac until the next chapter is posted, I hope you know.
As for the story as a whole, I also want to compliment you on how you've been handling the relationship between Cullen and Amell. A lot of authors tend to rush headlong into relationships in fanfiction, and one of the things I like best in your story is how realistic and tasteful the relationship between those two is. Two thumbs up, here!
And now that I've left you an essay, haha, I'll stop. Keep up the good work!
| Iofiel chapter 13 . 11/30/2009
You know, it's funny- I never thought that Greagoir's death would affect me that much. He always came off as a bit of... well, let's face it, a bit of a prick, particularly from a mage's POV.
I suppose, though, I'm a bit like Cullen in that now that I think about it, I really can't imagine the Circle without him.
As my eloquence is somewhat lacking tonight, I suppose I will just sum up my reaction into one word:
You, madame, are an absolute master of mood whiplash. And I mean that in the best possible way.
| Marching Madly Onward chapter 13 . 11/30/2009
With Loghain's crazed rantings, it's easy to forget that there actually might be some Fereldans who are stable *and* dislike the idea of their former oppressors marching into their borders. Of course, I find it odd that Orlesian magi would riff on their Fereldan counterparts. Aren't they at the Chantry's beck and call, too? It seems like only Tevinter Imperium magi, who have more free reign under the Imperial Chantry, would have room to look down on any other magi as Templar dogs. But that's just me quibbling over obscure game lore.
It's amusing to see Alain is hitting on Amell after the royal beat down she gave him. It's even better to see Amell using guerilla tactics rather than the time-honored "let's stand aroun and throw magical death at each other." There's something to be said of magi who leave the Circle, even if the notion makes Templars reach for their swords.
The most interesting development would have to be Cullen's boldness, though. With all the talk of vows that the Templars must take, I was under the impression that any romantic relationship with a Templar would be kept utterly secret-doubly so if he is carrying on with a "sinful" mage. It undermines the Chantry for these guys to take vows of celibacy, then sneak off to make out with their magical girlfriends, you know? I'm sure it's happened before, of course, but I can't help but think this will eventually come out and end with Cullen's disgrace, if not imprisonment. True, the Circle is changing, but I just don't see that kind of sweeping reform falling across institutions like the Chantry or the Circle. Fereldans seem pretty hard core when it comes to religion.
But it's that very suspense that keeps us reading, so I'll say no more.
| lyricangell chapter 13 . 11/30/2009
Oh no! Poor Greagoir! Poor Cullen! And poor Wynne? Hm, I remember Wynne telling Alistair in the game that she had a son that was taken away from her. I've always wondered who the son was and who the FATHER was...
Anyway, very moving chapter. I'm enjoying all the OCs, Stephen and even Alain. Keep it up, please!
| lyricangell chapter 12 . 11/30/2009
I loved the mage battle! It was short, but still very fun to read. Cookie for you! And Cullen is so cute with Therrin. Another wonderful chapter!
| Deus Ex Vir chapter 13 . 11/30/2009
Lovely. I like how this is progressing. It's slow enough to be believable, but quick enough to a pleasure to read. I'm of course talking about the Cullen/Amell relationship. Anywho, you've found a happy medium. Keep up the excellent work. I wish I could contribute something more insightful.
| vienna83 chapter 13 . 11/30/2009
Greagoir, no ;_;
He's such an interesting guy. My mage PC started out hating him like a prisoner hates the warden, but coming back to the Tower and how sad he was to annul the circle because he couldn't bear to hope for survivors, and he'll let you in because he doesn't really want to annul them... it's sad to see him go :
Yay for Cullen/Therrin happytimes. Yay Dog! I love the Dog/Stephen alliance (thumbs, seriously!). Boo Orlesians. Boo Alistair. BO.
Can't wait for more 3
| Nemolicious chapter 13 . 11/30/2009
E, poor grieving Cullen. Damnable mustachioed Orlesians! Great chapter, I was almost convinced that there would be a sex scene. Ooh, you tease. ;p
And Dog. Dog is amazingly cute.
