| Wyntirsno chapter 10 . 4/30/2010
This was a great story, poor little Joey and Frankie. That was a horrible thing for both and then on top of everything they had no idea what happened to each other. JR was a terrible desperate man and desperation drives people to do almost anything. I am so glad that JR wasn't really Joey's real father. Very good, kept me reading all of it without stopping.

3 this fic. I love the Joe/Frank and how frank is the one who calms Joe down. The big-brother promise angle was awesome.
And I loved the role of Fenton's parents as well. the only concrit is I would have spent more time on the scene where Fenton gets Frank back.
| ElizabetRose chapter 10 . 2/6/2010
I very much enjoyed this story w/ the wee Hardy's. And I got to meet Fenton's parents and a young, likable Aunt Gertrude. I'm glad, tho, that I'd read the Sweet William series already or it would have been a shock to read those stories and see the family come apart. It's hard to see how this family became that family,
I can kinda see Fenton's pride being his downfall. Once he'd made a decision and taken a position on William he couldn't/wouldn't consider that he might be wrong - even to the point of thinking Joe's been posing in porn pictures rather than the more likely explanation that it was William, a boy he doesn't know. I kept wanting Joe to say "but William told me he killed our mother on purpose" when that topic came up. Not that I think Fenton would have listened.
Laura doesn't seem to have bothered to do her own thinking until it was too late - she just waited for Fenton to fix things. She ends up losing both sons because she didn't act to protect both. And neither Fenton nor Laura helped their newly adopted son by ignoring the possibility that he might be a psychopath - William ends up dead.
It's hard to imagine that the Gertrude in this story is the same Gertrude in the Sweet William stories. Altho I've seen it in real life - sadly, people do change like that.
I think you need to write another story. What made Gertrude resent Joe and go the "blood relatives only" route?
What did she let poison her? Why didn't Fenton & Laura seem to know & trust the Joe they raised while Frank & their friends & the other adults who knew Joe did?
Somehow, between Noel & Sweet William, Joe lost his new parents and just didn't know it. Frank's parents also didn't grow into people he could trust. Joe at 4 was coping w/ major traumas and his new parents only knew of his mother's death. It didn't keep Frank from becoming Joe's brother but something seems to have prevented Fenton & Laura from becoming his parents.
There's a story there and I think the series needs it. You know, because you did that writer's thing and made them real.

Great ending - I really enjoyed this story.
| charis-kalos chapter 9 . 12/29/2009
I'm enjoying all of this, and I can't wait to see how Francis manages to sneak Frank in to see Joey, but the people I find myself most interested in are Cecil and Gertrude. I hope you give them a happy life together. They both deserve it!
