I randomly remembered this fic after years and it brought back so many memories! I remember being 15 or 16 and secretly reading this on my 2nd gen iPod touch, away from my conservative/ethnic family, in my laundry room on a late Saturday morning, while waiting for the washing machine cycle to finish. My dad caught me and went into a rage at the 'filth' I was reading. My iPod was confiscated and I endured a humiliating ass beating and a loooong lecture with the most hideous screaming where I disassociated for most of it. It was soooo bad T_T but I literally learned nothing and read the rest of the fic in my school computer lab during lunch until I caught up.

And because strict parenting begets sneaky kids, I planned..

I continued to read fanfiction at school and because I was terrified my dad would see the page open, or I would forget to wipe my history, or he would somehow have back-end access to the sites I visited, I went so far as print screening/copying fics into a word doc, saving the file under something innocuous and hiding it amongst school work in my 'English' folder on my USB to read at home. I'd even go so far as to copy actual text from previous essays on the first page and leaving a few pages as buffer until the fic started so it would look like I was working on school work or I could quickly jump to the first page should anyone come in unexpectedly. This went on until I graduated highschool and bought my first phone at 18 with money I had saved up. Fucken UNHINGED behaviour, but I was soooo damned stubborn.

I'm 30 now and to this day I still get this awful adrenaline spike if anyone unexpectedly appears while I read fanfiction.

Fucken worth it lmao.

And no, I never did get my iPod back :(

God I miss this story. I don’t know why but I just had a sudden urge to re read it again after all these years (13 years!) Still kills me that it’s incomplete :( at such a good turning point too.) I’ll always hold out hope that the fanfic bug will hit you again and it’ll be me finished. You will always be one of the original and best twi fanfic writers ️
