Oh, it's such a shame that the case took all of their time... It would have been pretty awesome to have more scenes like the one in the first chapter. And no, I do not mean the dirty hints but the bickering. My mind is not always THERE.
"but there's also Elvis, the couch."
And now I wonder... He called the couch Elvis on the show, too? Because if so, then Grace is right, he COULDN'T have been more creative XD
"Lisbon reminds him, swiping the bangs from her forehead. Jane tries to ignore his spontaneous desire to do it for her."
I love how fixated on her hair he's on your fics, love it. It has to be canon...
"You don't mean that, do you? I thought we got on quite well as roommates. I've grown very fond of Rosita here."
I was about to comment about how much I loved the notion of them as roommates and didn't want it to end when I read about "Rosita" XDDD this man is unbelieveable, he named her couch!
"Maybe that's why he's here, because somewhere in between catching Red John and firing a weapon to save her life, Lisbon became more than just a colleague, a means to an end."
I don't know what's the timeline on the show, but I think that statement is true right from the beggining , since episode one. I mean, I felt the first time I saw the show that they had some past, I don't know, I thought that for her to put up with him, something must have happen between the two of them, something that we didn't get to see. I don't even mean physically or ramantically, just... Something.
I got the feeling that they cared for each other, even if they would never say it or didn't even know it themselves just yet.
It's nice to see him figure it out.
"The heat from his touch burns through two layers of clothing but the intense blue gaze trained on her sends cold shivers down her spine."
What you did right there? Beautiful.
"And that's a loss that she can definitely live with."
Jane doesn't know how to follow rules? Well, who cares when he tells you that you matters to him, uh?
Great reading, thank you so much!
| Syd15 chapter 1 . 3/15/2011
You had me at "Lisbon decides to have Jane's couch reupholstered/cleaned/moved…(without telling him.)"
With a premise like this one, it HAS to be awesome. And it is.
"but the loud blasting of Rap music"
Oh Jane, you think you are sooo funny. But really, she should have known he would do somethig like that, I did!
"Lisbon doesn't realize how close they are to one another until she finds that Jane's face is an inch away from her belt buckle."
"You know, Lisbon, I have a few tools at my disposal which even you, my dear, may not be immune to."
had my mind going to a dirty place where this story became a NSFW one.
Shame on me!
But hey, it's you the one hinting those things, my imagination just follows through...
Well, I'm off to read the second part. I hope I can finish before having to go to my brother's place to take care of my nephew.

Lovely story :) Had me smileing almost the entire way through!
| Afterglow04 chapter 2 . 10/14/2010
"He looks over at the spot where the brown leather recliner used to be and envisions a chalk white outline like in the cheesy '80s crime dramas, his couch being the victim of an atrocious kidnapping."
This made me laugh so much! It reminded me of a Friends episode where they'd drawn a white square line on the floor for Chandler's Barcalounger and when he sees it, he replies: "Oh my god, they've killed square man." Haha! Ok, that was random and not at all helpful to this review :p but I just saw Jane in my head standing there all confused, I could so see that happen. Also, the fact that he calls Lisbon's couch Rosita...heeee Friends! That name actually suits her couch, I think lol.
It was indeed such a good prompt to work with, and quite funny! Although at first, I couldn't really understand why she'd have his couch moved just to annoy him, that seemed a bit strange. So I was waiting for a sort of explanation and I'm glad you provided one, it was still kind of a sweet thing of her to do. Even if it all went back to teaching him a lesson because of their conversation in that basement. The way you went from the couch to Lisbon realising that was nicely done btw, I enjoyed that.
| sdfsafdfasdfasdfasdf chapter 2 . 4/28/2010
Very pleasant fic. I can see this happening on the show, and that's why this fic works; it's believable. You really do have a pattern with your fics: you know how to play them like mannequins, without actually, really professing their feelings for each other. Each emotion and each line is lined with feelings of want, of love, of lust, of being more. Once again, a job well done!
| Cathartes chapter 2 . 1/25/2010
Aw, I just found this on somebody else's profile and was like, wait, I haven't read this one! It is SO CUTE. You really kept them believable and in character and their interaction is adorable. And restrained - practically repressed! Great job.
| MK chapter 2 . 1/23/2010
I liked this story. I had fun imagining the smirk on Lisbon's face when she told Jane about enjoying watching him try to wheedle information about Elvis out of her.
| Jadestar1981 chapter 2 . 1/21/2010
Sweet and wonderful. I just love how you portray Lisbon and Jane, their banter and behavior seems so natural and in character. The way you describe the chemistry, the interactions - it's great.
And I loved Rosita, it reminded me of Friends :D
I will definitely read your other TM story as well, but I'll do it tomorrow. First I gotta catch some sleep.
Again, it was wonderful and I really like your style, you have a way with words. Thanks for writing this!
| Jadestar1981 chapter 1 . 1/21/2010
Yana, this is wonderful. Lisbon playing a prank on Jane is so much fun to read. Loved that line...
[a chalk white outline like in the cheesy ‘80s crime dramas, his couch being the victim of an atrocious kidnapping] :D
And I think you capture their banter and behavior really well, it's so them to notice their attraction to each other, the little things like his cologne or how he wants to run his fingers through her hair...and at the same time not doing anything, not admitting anything to themselves. (I hope I make sense with what I'm writing, if not I blame the time of day and that I really should go to bed - but first I want to read the story :D)
| hardly loquacious chapter 2 . 12/29/2009
Well, this is lovely. Although, now I'm curious as to why he picked Rosita for Lisbon's couch... I love their last conversation. And I especially love: "Silly Lisbon," because I can just hear him saying it. Really, this is just lovely.
