| Jessi chapter 7 . 3/5
You've got a mouth. Go put some soap in it.

You wrote this fic! I read it ages ago, loved it. In fact, re read it. Was just going through your profile, seeing what else you've written and saw this.

So this is pretty much a good example of what I don't like about this genre. Not much happened, most of it just made me feel uncomfortable, and want to slap Harry.
That said you modeled recovery from alcoholism pretty well. I think he fell into addiction too quickly, but then again time frame is somewhat hard to pick up here. Symptoms lined up pretty damn well. I have never cut, never had the desire to, and never even looked up what it is like but it seemed to be handled fairly well too.
You handled the self-harm and spiral into depression fairly well and tastefully. You didn't get into the porn versions that I have seen, and frankly something like this at the start of book 6 would be a great start to HBP. Also a better start to H/G than canon, but alas canon is the horrible version of romance that we are stuck with.
I would have pushed harder if my kid and pseudo kid were trying to marry this quickly after this tragic event, but I would also let them sleep together if they were using contraceptives. So I don't compare well to Molly in this case. Seems way too quick of a romance, but just me.
So for the genre it is well written, but still not my kind of writing.

Dammit Dean and Seamus.
| FreelanceBum chapter 5 . 12/4/2013
The first hallucinations after 12-24 hours are easily distingushiable by the patient from reality. After a day and up to 3 days (24-72 hours) they may get DTs (delirium tremens) but that is a sign you need to get them to a doctor. They have a 5% mortality rate.
Severe alcohol withdrawal symptoms are a medical emergency. If seizures, fever, severe confusion, hallucinations, or irregular heartbeats occur, either take the patient to an emergency room or call 911.
Most of this points him into going for impatient care, possibly in a muggle hospital to keep away from various wizard world issues. Of course he is in the hands of a pureblood family with little to no competence at muggle things.
| FreelanceBum chapter 4 . 12/4/2013
Most people who have their parents die that young don't need to really mourn them. That said, most of the ones I know personally haven't come from an any form of abuse and especially haven't talked to the magical imprints of their parents from their murderer's murder weapon...so yeah.
| FreelanceBum chapter 2 . 12/4/2013
Harry destroyed the great magical artefact ever. I would do things, terrible things, for that bottle.
| FreelanceBum chapter 1 . 12/4/2013
I will start this off by saying I don't typically read after the war fics, as they tend to be either too angsty or fluffy. I can see this leaning towards column A, but I'll withhold judgement momentarily.
| Guest chapter 18 . 9/5/2013
I like this story, especially because it doesn't alter anything in canon. It could easily fit in the hole between the end of the war and the epilogue. Thanks for such a magnificent piece of writing.
