![]() ![]() ![]() I'm enjoying this. |
![]() ![]() This remains my favorite Penny/Sheldon fix-it fic of all-time. I love the slow build-up, the friendships, the humor, and the little slices of life; but most of all, I love the fact that you treated all of the characters like actual, flawed human beings, deserving of dignity and respect, including your handling of Leonard. I am not his biggest fan, but I appreciate you not just making Leonard the stereotypical villain. His "awakening" is very poignant, and I really enjoyed the vignette in Strange and Charmed with him spending Christmas with his father, Grace, and Jenna. I hope that PP-verse Leonard does eventually find a girl who likes short guys who play the cello and can't eat cheese. Also, I am seriously tempted to look up Dagorhir and see if there are any chapters near me, because their Stormfist counterparts make it sound way too entertaining...and therapeutic. (As someone who works in retail, I understand Sven's "deep and personal need to hit something" by week's end.) Tl;dr - I love this fic, and I'll be back for another reread soon. I've already lost count of what number I'm on now. |
![]() ![]() ![]() This was a great fic! Thank you so much for this! :) This fic had a lot of stuff I loved! Of course, I adore the Shenny stuff but what I love is how this fic centers on friendship too and its main premise is to dive deep into wounds that never got explored in the show and is skimmed over. I feel like cannon wants us to believe (and perhaps all sitcoms are like this too as the friendships shown are hardly perfect) that when a friend does wrong, we can just forgive but it does come to a point where the friend is just taking advantage of you and there's resentment there. This is shown so prominently with Sheldon and Leonard's relationship that at times you wonder why their friends, or if they are just because they have to be due to being roommates. With Raj and Howard, it's a lot simpler. The two of them actually show fondness for each other (sometimes too much lol). That's not to say Sheldon isn't fond of Leonard though the condescending nature is highly to be desired I imagine for Leonard. Leonard, on the other hand, seems to always have a sarcastic barb for Sheldon but of course, the guy does have to live with Sheldon and we know how he can be so it makes one skim Leonard's mean remarks because the guy brings Sheldon's food and drives him to places like a Choeffer. With Penny coming in to change the boys which I think was supposed to be her purpose, it forced Sheldon to change and thusby Leonard too, at least in realizing that he shouldn't treat Sheldon the way he does but he also doesn't have to or shouldn't deal with Sheldon's bullcrap too... I wish we saw how their relationship heals but well I'm not sure how that would go. But I actually found Leonard and Sheldon's stuff more interesting. Their relationship is very underrated. |
![]() ![]() ![]() This chapter is probably one of my favorites. It's such a growing painful moment for Leonard to see what he's become over the years and the kind of friend and boyfriend he was. And it's believable and so in character too, not the one-dimensional (I feel) stuff I keep seeing in Shenny fics where he's just the villain in all this. He is but he's also sympathetic, that of course doesn't excuse his actions. I, at least, loved how this chapter while showcasing Leonard's selfish side also shows that Leonard did care for Sheldon and Penny to an extent but they both represented something missing from his ego that he used to fulfill. He demeaned and humiliated Sheldon because of jealousy and because Sheldon had what he wanted. He used Penny to make himself feel better and you can also saying that putting down Sheldon also did the same thing for him. At the same these are the two people who meant the most in his life as well, else he wouldn't be thinking so much about them or feeling the guilt. They were the two constants in his life that made it worth anything and he had been so ungrateful because he couldn't let go of a bitter past that constantly reminded him he wasn't good enough. Man Leonard is a deep character if he was explored more in the series instead of having Penny be used as an emotional band-aid and a method of making him "manly" in the toxic way that the show advertises as "healthy". |
![]() ![]() ![]() I got to say I kind of love Penny's new BFFs in this story better than Amy and Bernadette because these girls fit Penny's personality and who she is. They're interested in acting and creative stuff and she doesn't feel stupid around them or have to attempt to follow what they're saying... I kind of wonder if all that drinking she does in cannon, later on, is to numb the insecurity she feels hanging out with people that are just too smart for her and that makes her feel dumb. |
![]() ![]() ![]() This makes me feel bad for Leonard... though you know if the show did go this route it would've forced Leonard to either face some character growth or decline if he decides to be more angry and blame others instead of facing himself and his darker side. Because he is horrible to Sheldon and he is jealous even though Sheldon is also horrible to him, demeans and dismisses his work, and demands far too much from Leonard. His most inexcusable actions though is toward Penny because Penny did try hard but the truth is their relationship was doomed to fail because all Leonard saw of Penny was a trophy wife, an object of his desires to make him feel good about himself instead of actually appreciating Penny for who she is. She's the prize. She's hardly a character or person when it comes to Leonard and this is why her and Sheldon's scenes are so epic because we see Penny and the clash between geek and normal but still special Penny. We know more of her through her interactions with Sheldon than we ever do with her interactions with Leonard which is mostly based on how she chooses the wrong guys and Leonard is supposedly the right guy because he's "different" even though as you brilliantly showcase here Leonard really is no different. Penny is not a person, she's an object, someone to have sex with, a hot girl to show off and help his self-esteem. And Penny deserves better. This is what I hate about the Lenny relationship and Big Bang in general. The only character that got through some change it seemed was Howard through his relationship with Bernadette but he was still a bad friend to Raj while dating Bernadette. At least that was addressed and what's more, Raj is now making a life of his own outside of Howard instead of being portrayed as a loser left behind like in the show. And I'm loving his friendship with Sheldon. Sheldon really went above and beyond for him even though he was kind of obnoxious about it in the show with giving Raj a job to keep him in the States. And now thanks to Penny, he has a girlfriend and is slowly trying to get out of his mutism without feeling ashamed about it. I like how here it's said if Raj had to make a choice of who to choose in a fight, he'd choose Sheldon. We rarely see Raj being loyal to Sheldon. He's mostly taking part with the rest in bemoaning Sheldon's existence and why they have to hang out with him even though no one is forcing them too. I kind of think they just hang out with Sheldon just so they could hang out in his apartment and play his games and stuff... plus Sheldon comes up with the activities and it seems the more physical ones are more Sheldon's idea than it is the rest of the gang but they still seem to enjoy it a bit... |
![]() ![]() ![]() Oh, Penny, Sheldon is never gonna leave you. Even in cannon, when it comes to who's the side he'd choose, he'd always choose Penny. Meanwhile, in canon with the Shamy relationship, Leonard chooses Sheldon over Amy... but that's probably because he doesn't know Amy well enough, or well it's a rare moment of loyalty for Leonard... I think the Sheldon/Leonard relationship does get better over time but man did I hate how they sort of skipped over and ignored Leonard's betrayal or how Leonard didn't think what he did was a big thing and thought getting back with Penny was more important. He wanted to have sex over trying ask for forgiveness to his friend which he never really does in the end. |
![]() ![]() ![]() My only complaint is the grammar. Please use the proper pronouns or use a subject to come before the verb. She bends, presses a swift, soft kiss to the top of his forehead, and hastens back to her own bed. |
![]() ![]() ![]() This really matches what I feel like Leonard was feeling in Season 1-3 of Big Bang every time he came across Sheldon and Penny hanging out |
![]() ![]() ![]() Wow this chapter was so good. A shenny fic with a good Leonard characterization that doesn't make him a one-dimensional villain and actually makes you pity him in some sense. Leonard is all kinds of fucked up that you can't help pitying the guy a bit. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I thought Leonard had done what he has done because Howard wanted to murder Sheldon so in order to prevent that he decided sabotage was better than having his friend murdered. That's how I've always interpreted Leonard's betrayal which I don't think Leonard even sees as...tbh I never felt he cared much about how much he hurt Sheldon due to what he did... |
![]() ![]() ![]() Lol that ending xD reminds me of the dream Leonard has before his wedding with Penny in cannon where Sheldon tries to save Leonard's marriage by equaling the playing field and kissing Penny which ends up being more passionate than expected xD But I got to say this one's even funnier. Sir Whack-a-Doodle lol xD |
![]() ![]() ![]() I'm really loving this it feels right but really penny for me should have ended it already they don't seem to have spent any time together in weeks and the one time he comes to her he just wants sex that's not a relationship |
![]() ![]() ![]() Isso é muito bom! |
