What a mean cliffie! I'm glad I'm reading this fic when it's already completed!
| FluffyLiz chapter 19 . 8/20/2011
I was reminded during this chapter, when Edward cries out across the dunes, of a similar scene in Jane Eyre, when Edward Rochester wails his grief and loss across the Yorkshire Moors, desperate for his beloved Jane to return to him. So poignant.

Well, now he knows she's alive somewhere out there, he's never going to stop looking. Clearly, Bella doesn't want Edward to become like her, but when she sees him she'll surely change her mind. I suppose it comes down to whether he's is changed because he wants it or whether it is forced on them by similar circumstances to Bella's change. Inevitably, if he stays at the club he will become a target for the mob - will something happen to force Bella's or Carlisle's hand?
| FluffyLiz chapter 17 . 8/19/2011
Ahh, so it was Bella who returned the ring, believing that she would never, could never be with Edward again. But, like canon Bella, she apparently has unusual control - certainly such that Carlisle has been taken aback by it - so perhaps it won't be too long before she can venture out amongst humans. Carlisle will need to wean her off human blood though - at least, I assume that's what he gave her, considering Esme's reaction. Presumably, he obtained it from a hospital blood bank. But she will have to learn to subsist on animal blood so that she can build up a tolerance to humans. So we will have a sort of back to front Twilight - Bella will have to turn Edward.
Got to go to bed but will be back to finish this later. Oh, and is it okay to say that I'm just a little bit smug that I gave you your 500th review! Yayyy me LOL!
| FluffyLiz chapter 16 . 8/19/2011
Poor Edward, my heart aches for him. He doesn't want to go on living without Bella, but cannot let go of that last tiny sliver of hope. And now we know, of course, that Bella is a vampire. Carlisle must have expected her to forget about Edward, or at least not have a clear enough memory of how much she loved him. She's going to have to be patient, though. She can't go looking for him until she's learned to control her thirst - although hopefully, being Bella, that may not take as long as normal. But Carlisle won't be happy if she tries to find him because he can't allow her to reveal their secret. Does he think she'll just be happy to stay with him and Esme? I think he might find, as her parents did, that she's not to be held back or pinned down. I think he may have bitten more than he can chew (pun sooo intended!)
May I just say that this story has gone in a totally different direction to what I expected and continues to keep me guessing and wanting to read more. I'm all coffee'd up now, so even though it's nearly 4am I think I might have to read one more chapter LOL!

I'm all out of ideas! Why did Carlisle taker Bella? It sounds like her injuries were mortal, so his only reason must be to turn her. But why would he return her ring - is it to try and make Edward accept her death and move on? Why would he turn her, if not to keep her alive for Edward? Is it his intention to see her through her newborn phase and then let her return to Edward? But would he risk revealing the secret of his nature? Damn you, I'm going to have to read at least one more chapter! I'm off to put the kettle on - I need coffee!

Oh wow, I did not expect that! I was thinking maybe Edward would get caught by the mob guys at Ben's and not make it to the station in time. This is awful. Is this where Carlisle makes a reappearance - is Edward going to beg for the same thing his mother wanted? If she ends up in hospital her family will come and probably make sure Edward isn't allowed to see her - they're not really married (silly Bella!) so he will have no rights. The only good thing is that the story's complete so I don't have to wait for an update! Mind you, it is 2.40am, but it's Friday so I ain't going to bed till I've read at least one more chapter (oh pooshanks, how many times have I said that?)
| FluffyLiz chapter 13 . 8/19/2011
Looks like Edward's dad is in deep with the Mob, but what does this mean for Edward? Surely his father won't let anything bad happen to him, regardless of their estrangement. Although his alcoholism may cloud his judgement, I guess. But will Edward's relationship with Edward Snr afford him some protection, or go against him - or worse, ensnare him somehow? I hope to God Sam gets Bella out before one of the mob guys spots her and decides to help himself.

I loved their "wedding night"! I'm especially enjoying Edward and Bella's characterizations. Like you found a way to keep Bella not wanting to get married, but they could make a compromise, and not make their marriage a deal.
| FluffyLiz chapter 12 . 8/19/2011
I do love to hate Jacob! I much prefer when he's an oaf, rather than any kind of real competition for Bella's affections. His portrayal in the original Twilight books always annoyed me - it just never worked for me that Bella would feel such intense love for Edward that she was prepared to die for him, yet could find room to feel more than just filial love for Jake. Nuh uh, so couldn't accept that. The only good thing about someone trying to get between Edward and Bella is that it invariably leads to some hot kitchen rumpy - always a winner!

I'm so glad Edward is away from the speakeasy, and hopefully they will plan to start their travels quickly, before anyone comes looking for Bella to remonstrate with her. I loved this chapter, so fully of sweet promise and love, with just the right amount of eroticism and sexual fulfilment, without being prurient or salacious. Beautifully done.
| FluffyLiz chapter 10 . 8/18/2011
Yes, yes, a thousand times yes ... oh bugger, he wasn't talking to me!
This sounds like a great opportunity for Bella to escape her parents' expectations and for Edward to escape the meaninglessness of his current existence. But is there a danger that Bella's parents might stage an intervention - or worse, will her prospective fiance turn up and set the cat amongst the pigeons?
| FluffyLiz chapter 9 . 8/18/2011
Ooh, Eddie's got a little taste and so has Bella - she's breaking him down, bit by bit. And now he knows she loves him he's going to be fighting a losing battle.
| FluffyLiz chapter 8 . 8/18/2011
Why is Ben's situation - much like Sam's - making me anxious? Edward really needs to extricate himself from anything which may put Bella in the line of fire. I continue to be massively curious as to how things are going to progress, and what it is that makes Bella so hesitant in the face of Edward's declaration. Yes, I know they've hardly known one another any length of time, but it's as clear as day that she's in love with him and something is causing her to hold back - what on earth can it be?
| FluffyLiz chapter 7 . 8/18/2011
Ha! Bella is so astute and Edward has a lot to learn from her. He, of course, is still mired in a much more traditional view of women, despite his growing acceptance and, indeed, love of Bella's modern ways. But now Bella is truly independent, with no Rose looking over her shoulder. But I wonder what her secret is and how long it will be before she reveals it to Edward.
