Aw...this made me sad...
| Bixby the Footling Bat chapter 1 . 1/16/2010
Oh my. As sad as this was, it was very heartwarming, too. I can easily imagine Holmes taking care of an elderly Lestrade. I especially liked this line:
"Did you know you're a very kind man?"
"I don't think so, no."
That was so very Holmes. Coldly rational people seldom view themselves as kind, even if they are. And they hardly ever realize how much they mean to others. What a lovely story. Very well done!
| Aragonite chapter 1 . 1/15/2010
That was amazing.
| White Wyrsa chapter 1 . 1/15/2010
Sweet litle one. Your old men are so nice to watch. )) Sticking together at all times, aren't they? Feel for Holmes a bit, poor man. *g*
Loved some pieces very much:
“Oh, someone, I dare say. There were people before us and there will be people after us. We’re not so indispensable as one might think.”
“What—how the devil did you know I was cold?” :))
“I’m tired, Mr. Holmes.”
“Close your eyes, then.”
“That would be too dark.” Gave me creeps.*lopsided grin*
“Hmph. Well, that may be. But there’s one thing I know, Mr. Holmes, one thing for certain!”
“And what is that?”
“Confound it. I forgot.”
Very well written, LOVED it! :)

That is such a cute story! Thank you for sharing.
| Mam'zelleCombeferre chapter 1 . 1/14/2010
Wow. This is insanely tragic. Wow.
| gabrielsangel79 chapter 1 . 1/14/2010
This is a melancholy story.
I like how Holmes has taken on the role of caring friend for the inspector.
I assume Watson has already solved the "greatest lesson of them all"?

Goodness gracious...I'm not even sure what to say. Excellently written, as usual, but...ow.
