|Reviews for Christmas Surprises|
| Enjorous chapter 4 . 2/7/2010
Two things before I actually make a comment on this newest chapter that I've missed for the past five days.
1) I would have sworn I put this story on alert.
2) I would have also sworn that I reviewed the last chapter.
One is now fixed and two will be as well momentarily.
And while throwing tomato's would be rather fun at this point I'm not going to. Why? Because I'm just a nice guy like that.
And I guess because I don't have any to throw might have something to do with it. Or not, I don't know. But what I do know is that this story makes me laugh. I know I've said it before and by god I will say it again.
But at the same time it makes me stop and ponder. Because behind the sarcastic and introspective Alice there is some real depth behind everything.
Wow that was a little too serious and hokey, but whatever. It had to be said, I think. I'm now going to be sitting her and waiting to see what's going to happen next.
I have to say that Rosalie was a little bipolar in this chapter, but who knows. I suppose family can bring out the a-hole in you and your lover can make you more syrupy than pancakes at an Ihop.
That last bit was something I thought Paige would say, I mean it does sound something Virginian. Maybe, I honestly don't know, I've never been there.
And I would have thought that as a doctor Carlisle would know something about the possibility of two females to uhh...umm..."get it on" "doink" "do the nasty" "make like bunnies" I think you get the idea. And I figured he'd also have at least rudimentary computer skills. Because hospitals, even in the backwoods of Washington, are pretty well automated and computerized. But I guess he's old and old people are often stuffy and stogy in their ways.

She just keep catching HELL from everyone. I feel so bad for her. Give her a little Jasper loving or something.. or you know.. Esme *winks* Either works fine, though I'm sure most of the readers would prefer Jasper. Me though.. well you know what I want *grins*
I Love poor little abused Alice. Although her taking a chunk out of Esme in the throes of her vision was an unusual touch. You would have thought Jasper would have stopped her. Or maybe he didn't expect it.
Now if Rosalie kills Bella after all the trama of "getting" her.. it will be rather awful for the family. Hmm. I don't care for that ending at all. I'm sure its all in my head. You wouldn't ever let Bella die right? *raised eyebrow*
Anyway. Well Done :) Looking forward to the next :)
| massrie chapter 3 . 2/6/2010
Esme can indeed be quite frightening when she chooses to do so. Poor Alice, even if she was withholding information from everyone. I understand Esme's thinking though. But I understand Alice's point of view more. Can't bring anymore humans into the fray.
Rosalie .. and Bella. Yum. Although I'm a bit worried about the singer part to be honest.

lol, I agree, you need to justify the love before it can ever be a real lemon :P or a real good lemon xP
enjoyed the chapter, and loved the Rose bitchi/nice?ness, she's not Rose if she aint got some bitch.
| GothicPheonix chapter 4 . 2/3/2010
This part was funny; so Rosalie:
(“What do I sa-...” Esme began, but then was interrupted when Rosalie picked up.
“What?” Rosalie snarled through the line.
There’s formality when talking on the phone, and then there’s Rosalie.
“H-hello, Rosalie,” Esme said, taken aback, “this is Esme, I was just calling t-...”
“Who else would be calling at two in the morning?” Rosalie snarl didn’t soften in tone, although her snarl was soft in volume. “Listen, Esme, email’s been around long enough, and if you’d check it, you’d see we’re still arriving tomorrow evening, okay? The itinerary hasn’t changed since we booked the flight.”
Wasn’t it wonderful how Bella had mellowed Rosalie’s disposition?)
And I awwed a this: Rose. Bella called Rosalie ‘Rose.’
(After two years of knowing of Rosalie, Bella hadn’t used that familiarity ... rarely anybody did, and if they did, they did so rarely, daringly, because it was always a measured risk, being familiar, calling Rosalie ‘Rose.’ She tended to rip your head off if she felt she was being slighted or taken for granted or patronized.
Well, not literally rip off your head. That we knew about, anyway.
Bella said Rosalie’s familiar name easily, naturally.
She said it as a friend calls a friend, or a lover her beloved.
Bella now knew more than of Rosalie, she knew Rosalie ... knew as in the Biblical sense.
It was ... almost shocking, this intimacy that we were hidden witnesses to.
But not as shocking as what followed.
“Sweetheart,” Rosalie said gently, “everything’s all right, I’m just confirming the flight information with Esme.”)
It shows how much Rosalie loves Bella and how it is reciprocated.
I still feel bad for Jasper:
(“Esme,” Bella’s voice was relieved to be talking to a sympathetic vampire ...
... although that label could be applied to all of our family ... well, most of our family.
And Jasper could be sympathetic if Bella wasn’t bleeding at the time.)
Ouch Rosalie, Harsh:
(“It’s Edward, isn’t it? Something happened to him? Did he go to Volterra again?” Bella’s voice rose in pitch along with her concern.
“I hope so,” Rosalie’s angry buzz carried its way over the phone line. “That way he’d do something right for a change and finally finish what he started!” Then she added spitefully, “Serves him right!”)
Wow...is Rosalie becoming whipped XD:
(“Rose,” Bella’s quiet voice was directed away from the phone, “I don’t know what you said, but I think you should apologize.”
There was a silence, thick with anticipation on our side. Rosalie? Apologize? About Edward?
After a moment, a cross “I’m sorry!” came over the line.
Esme frowned, but Carlisle actually smiled faintly.
Well, it was progress ... for Rosalie.)
(“No, Bella, it’s not the Volturi. Bella,” Esme began cautiously, “are the walls in your dorm ... well, what color are they?”
“Huh? Well, um, off-white. Why?” Bella began, but then yelped in surprise. “Hey, ow!”
“If Alice is there, put her on the line right now,” Rosalie growled.
Bella, in the background, said a bit petulantly, “Say ‘please,’ Rosalie.”
Rosalie blew through her nose. “‘Please,’” she added impatiently.)
Wow Alice...that's a little of an exaggeration XD:
(I walked to the phone, preparing to do battle with Rosalie, but then had to work very hard not to burst out laughing, even given the gravity of the situation, because Bella was muttering in the background, complaining faintly, and her words went like this.)
Wow Alice..guess you knew how the fans would react XD:
(As if Rosalie, fawning Rosalie, would let Bella touch anything other than her purse (Yes, I know! Bella has a purse now! They both were actually good for each other in some ways ...). In some ways, Rosalie is exactly like Edward in the ways she treats Bella.
I said in some ways, okay? Back off, please. Rosalie and Bella may have been quite the surprise match for all concerned, even each other, at first, but when they did end up as a couple, you did see how the strengths of one helped the other and vice versa. Sounds trite, and rarely works in practice. For example ... unfortunately: Bella and Edward ... their strengths only smothered each other. That is, if Edward would ever admit Bella had any strengths at all. He saw as a weak human girl, needing to be worshiped, yes, adored, yes, but protected and marginalized)
Yep BELLA is great for Rose XD:
(“‘Oh, Bella, may I talk on the phone for a moment, please?’” she asked herself sarcastically, then grumbled: “But no! Grab it right out of my hand like that, I won’t be surprised if I’ve sprained my wrist, and it’ll be all swollen tomorrow. How can I carry my luggage like that? I’m going to need cold Rosalie compress all night now, and it’d better be sweet and apologetic Rosalie cold compress, not mean and grumpy Rosalie or it’ll be NST for her for a fortnight and that’s a fact!”)
OUCH! Poor Carlisle:
(Esme’s brow became stormy with fury, and her hand slashed the air in a vicious horizontal cut. Esme had learned that Carlisle, like many men, were immune to subtle hints.)
You are SO great at Alice's POV XD This is hilarious XD:
(I picked up the receiver and grinned wickedly. Teasing my father was a lot more fun than crossing swords with my sister.
“Look up ‘tribadism’ online, Carlisle, that should get your research started ...”
I giggled, anticipating the looks crossing Carlisle face when he hit wikipedia and saw the sample sketches, and then followed the link to tribbing-dot-org.
“Does that mean I have to work the computer?” Carlisle asked blankly.
I sighed ... that is, it would be delicious fun if he ever made it to wikipedia. Maybe I’d help out his research efforts, that way I could see the expressions at his mortification or his scientific fascination first hand. I don’t know which would be funnier.
Esme was glaring at me for my last comment.)
I would have too, if I was Carlisle:
(But I mean, come on! I was at least one-hundred years old, sure, but he had no excuses, even if he did have another quarter millennium on me. Hey! He should have used that extra time to play catch up to me ... before he knew I existed.
I would have.)
Alice...you should have known better than to try that I mean...see what Esme reacted?:
(“What did you see, Alice?” Rosalie demanded curtly.
... ‘start the conversation cheerfully’ ... well, at least it started cheerfully from my end.
“Bella becomes your singer, and you drink her dry,” I sang.
Silence. Three wide-eyed vampires stared at my delivery, and I couldn’t see Rosalie through the telephone, but I didn’t need to, for I had already memorized the definition of ‘affronted haughtiness.’
That would be: ‘see: Rosalie Lillian Haughty, I mean: Hale.’
“Made you blink,” I added helpfully.)
Poor Alice *sighs* always being shot:
(It sounded calm, but I knew she was furious, and with me. Like Edward, she got really defensive when her lover was endangered, and, like Edward, she directed that anger at me for noticing the danger.
So much for not shooting the messenger. And I volunteer to do this why, again?
Oh, because I love Rosalie so much!
Actually, that’s a true statement, sarcasm aside. It’s true, too, for Edward, and for all my family, in fact.)
BELLICE ALERT BELLICE ALERT! XD:
(That leaves my Bella ...
Well, not my Bella, but Bella, taking care of danger? Ooh! A vampire! I wonder if it needs a hug?
I keep my eye on, and out for, Bella.)
Wow...eye on..that doesn't sound uh..y'know, at all XD
Rosalie was a little harsh with Alice though, about ehr mistake :(
| MadDelight chapter 4 . 2/3/2010
hm. i don't know why but i found that chapter quite hilarious. im thinking it was just the way you write Alice. tres amusant. really lovin this story even if the lemons arent there yet. good for you. justification is the way to go!
| Jocelyn Torrent chapter 4 . 2/3/2010
Oh, oh, oh, I loved this chapter. I really loved this chapter. Rosalie was so spot on! Gah, I'm still so...enthused about it all. She was brilliant. Better than I could have ever done. So proud, strong, ignorant and just all around Rosa-freakin-lie! Excited? Me? Never. I loved it so. But then she was tender. Tender with Bella and I just almost hugged my computer screen! (Which would have been bad, considering it's plasma or whatever and would result in a few spots, methinks)
Oh and her banter with Alice. Granted, it didn't really turn out well but the 'made you blink' was wonderful. Kudos for that. And look at you being all rockstar with Jasper. *sigh* So good.
I really think you should remove that A/N though. Because this story needs no apologies (or thrown tomatoes). I think I'm feeling towards this story like you (now) feel with Rose Read. There's enough 'tenderness' between the two of them that a lemon isn't really imperative at the moment. Taking time is doing such a wonderful job already. *Sigh* Well, I have to go...
...go read this chapter again.

ouch what a cliffhanger.
| Enjorous chapter 2 . 1/31/2010
Hey, I didn't think my last review was scolding in the least. I was just not expecting the turn of events that conspired in the prelude to this story...SO THERE! I DON'T Scold O.o
I may chide
and other synonyms that I can't think of because Google Chrome does not come with a built in thesaurus and I'm clearly /way/ to lazy to open up word or god forbid an open a real thesaurus.
I have to say that I love Paige, and her drunken foulmouthed antics; I couldn't stop laughing, because it was a real dysfunctional family moment, something that is often missed in all things Twilight because them Cullen's always have to be utterly perfect in a weird Stepford kind of a way. And of course Alice's narration was hilarious and oh so true. I hate to say it though but the role playing description about proper phone answering etiquette almost had me out of my chair with laughter. At this point I don't care when hot and steamy things come up because this story is too funny to ignore.
[Insert a catchy closer here] Enjorous
| 51readaholic15 chapter 3 . 1/31/2010
oh! I predicted that would happen, that Bella would end up as Rosalie's singer! However I do hope Rosalie doesn't actually drink her dry :P that would kinda suck for Rosalie. And Edward in a he-still-loves-Bella kinda way.
Update soon! I must know how this turns out!
| Enjorous chapter 1 . 1/30/2010
For someone so militant about getting Rose and Bella together in Rose Red I figured there'd be nothing by lemons from start to finish. I also didn't expect it to be an Alice Jasper story, which immediately is weird because since I've joined FF I've pretty much read Alice Bella stuff so seeing her with Jasper is just a bit weird. But the hilarity is already there
| Jocelyn Torrent chapter 3 . 1/30/2010
Oh yes she can too stop herself! And she will stop herself! (But I'm not demanding. Swears.)
"Either and any way you put it, it seemed something that even the most imaginative fiction writer couldn’t ever come up with, for goodness sake!"
I literally lol-ed at that. Thank you for it. Now, you have to update like right now. For serious. I'm so nervous, lol
| GothicPheonix chapter 3 . 1/30/2010
Poor Alice :( An Angry Esme is MUCH MUCH worse than an angry Alice:
(“Esme, I’m sorry; I’m really, really, sorry! I didn’t see it go down this way, and ...” I began.
Esme held up an imperious hand.
“You didn’t see what go down what way?” Esme demanded angrily.
My apology wasn’t starting off that well.
Go for chipper or cute?
I looked into Esme’s furiously black eyes.
No, going for chipper wouldn’t be such a good idea right now.
“Um, the phone call? I thought, that, well, Paige was sleeping deeply and ...”
“Yes, Paige,” Esme interrupted. “Paige. And just how long have you seen her, and have been keeping tabs on this, Alice?”
No, my name isn’t Bella Swan nor is it Paige Morgan, okay? But you try talking to Esme when she’s like this.)
(I was almost as shy as saying Bella’s name when it was brought up in reference to Edward. It had just gone so horribly, fantastically wrong for him, and now she was with Rosalie, who was so deliriously happy with her new ... new something — girlfriend? lover? soulmate? — I mean how were the rest of us supposed to feel about all this? Happy for Bella and Rosalie? Sad for Edward?)
And this is why I don't feel bad for Edward because he was a kjer, and an ass to Rosalie.
This was SUCH a cite and touching moment:
(“Oh,” Esme said quietly, and her hand left my shoulder.
“Esme, hold me, please,” I begged.
Esme was quiet for a moment.
Then her hand returned to my shoulder.
She kissed my head again.)
For a minute there I thought...hehe Esme/Alice 0_o:
(I breathed in. I breathed out. I realized that the something in my mouth was a piece of Esme. I pushed her in my mouth with my tongue back onto her collarbone and removed my teeth and lips from Esme’s neck and shoulder.
I looked around. The bed, Esme’s clothes, the surrounding area, including the carpet on the floor?
In shambles. Shredded.
I looked at Esme’s shoulder.
A very tiny mouth had taken a bite out of her shoulder; the chip from her shoulder was working it’s way back into place, but the bite mark would always be there now.
My bite mark.)
Uh-oh so now Bella is Rosalie's singer? :( Please let them be better off then with Eddie :( XP Don't kill anyone of...and was this implied Bellice here:
(“And you ‘saw’ Bella as your best friend ...” Esme said thoughtfully. “What do they call it these days?”
“BFF,” I said, then explained: “‘Best Friend Forever.’”
“‘Forever,’” Esme said the word slowly.
“Yes, but Bella wants that, Esme, so I don’t see ...”
“And you didn’t tell us about this until ...” Esme began.
“Esme, you know the futures are uncertain, and Edward ...”)
| 51readaholic15 chapter 2 . 1/30/2010
lol that was a funny chapter. Was cracking up half the time very cool. Loving the Esme/Edward moment good stuff
| Jocelyn Torrent chapter 2 . 1/30/2010
Paige also happens to be the name of some JT-random reviewer. o.O Lol, I thought you said you would be getting to the goods in the next chapter. Clearly I misinterpreted :P But this was good. Nothing like a drunk girl to set things straight, right? Again, I like how you dwell on side characters such as Esme. Really thoughtful of you.
