![]() ![]() ![]() lol It's the same argument about using anyone over the age of 3 for the brainship program, at least it's consistent! I'm amazed that I've found two different new authors who are writing (or finished writing) good stories. I'm looking forward to more! |
![]() ![]() ![]() One thing I love about fanfiction is exploration of the things which the original creator of a universe can't/won't/doesn't want to explore. So naturally, your introduction of Palma in this chapter delights me! I can't wait to see how else you turn Pernese (and fannish) expectations on their ear in this fic! (My PMs are turned on now, btw; must have disabled them in a fit of anti-socialness!) |
![]() ![]() ![]() Great story so far and a fantastic way to introduce the concept of the disabled being able to contribute in any society! I'm disabled myself, Fibro ans Degenerative Disc and Joint Disease as well as RA, and it seems that we have to go farther and do better just to be accepted half as much. As a middle aged woman, I'm really interested to see how you plan to bring that into the story and how it factors in. Very well done so far! |
![]() ![]() ![]() You are doing a wonderful job of raise said awarness. I really liked how you had her take off her shoes to feel the music. Maybe someone else can learn her sign. I know that when one sence is taken others develop more sharply. So rest assured you are doing well. Keep up the good work! |
![]() ![]() ![]() I will start off by saying that this is my first ever review. Now on to the review... I am thoroughly caught up in this story. Each segment contains just enough, like a teaser, information about the scene for me to see in my mind what is going on. Which to me is the compelling thing to hook me on the story (or book) I am reading. I have not seen any typos or grammatical errors, although I am not an English language teacher. I do notice the different spellings and word usages between the UK and the US. (Doesn't bother me.) Just glad to know for myself that I can tell the difference. Keep up the good work. I look forward to future updates of this story and future ones as well. PS I added this story and you to my favorites lists. Cheers, Carl, aka Styxamix |
![]() ![]() ![]() Well, the former headwoman has an aid, her husband when deaf, so that helps, and new Igen queenrider has help in hearing other dragons, HAD. Also the right dragon didn't hatch during the headwoman time now its has, I have a hearing loss too if I miss the begin of a word I sometime miss the whole meaning, and I had stay with someone who son was deaf, and had to communicate with him an important message, in writing for it came over the voice line not the TDD, and nice thing about using the feet to pick up the music. I am also a person who has low vision, and other hidden disabilities which only show up if I try writing something, I have problem with English, in translating my ideas/words into writen, I know what I want to say, just sometime can't spell it, a spell-check helps but not all the time. I know something about folks who are deaf/hard of hearing, my Grandmother for one, and I've gone to tech college where they had at the time till this pass year a students with disabilities center. Well written, good inaction, and good background. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Thanks for the update. This is very good. I'll first address the fact that a woman impressed blue. Unusual, yes, but not totally outside reason. Anne McCaffrey said in an interview that a female could possibly impress blue, but not in a story she writes, so it is possible. Palma's age is a sticking point, but as you said, usually after 23 the personality is so set that it can't integrate with another personality. Her impressing tells me that Palma's bark is way worse than her bite. Nice touch about San being able to hear all dragons. I figured she could from the first chapter. No one who is mentally unstable would attract a hatchling and hearing voices in her head would mean mental unstability or 'hear all dragons'. Since Vorlith chose her, that leaves 'hear all dragons'. Great story and looking forward to more with great anticipation. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Hm. More fascinating complications. Keth has an interesting personality. I'm less concerned that Palma has Impressed than that she Impressed a blue-while men can be green riders, women Impress green or gold, period-unless you're planning to take on gender roles, too? Ambitious! |
![]() ![]() ![]() Honestly I love it! My brother is deaf and you do not see many stories where the main charater is deaf. Great job so far, please keep going . I love it. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I'm intrigued. A light-sensitive dragon, a deaf rider-I really look forward to more of this. I'm curious about how the dynamics of Sannel and Darrin's relationship will change now that they're both riders and she outranks him, and I'm wondering how Sannel and Vorlith will support each other's disabilities. A promising start-I hope there's more soon! |
![]() ![]() ![]() I'm definitely looking forward to more chapters! It will be interesting to see where you go with San being Deaf and Impressing a queen. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I thoroughly enjoyed your first chapter :) Not so sure about the poem at the top? Does it tie in with more/other poem lines at the start of each chapter? |
![]() ![]() ![]() Wow. That was so good, my friend sent me the link so I could read it without looking for it. Iam anxious to learn more about your characters! |
![]() ![]() ![]() I feel your pain on going back and rewriting something 15 billion times - I tend to do that a lot as well, and my Beta usually has to smack my hands to get me to leave something alone. I think this turned out very well despite any frustrations you might have had, and I cannot wait to read more and see what happens next. Please update soon :) |
![]() ![]() ![]() Well written good inaction and good background, nice to see a person who has a disability impress. A voice hailed her, and she turned pensively to see a man dressed in the garb of the Fishcraft Hall at Tillek. Fishcraft color is sea-blue with a fish Dragonlover's Guide to Pern, Tillek hold colors are white and dark blue and Lord Holder Ranrel was a Journeyman of the Fishcrafthall the MasterFisherCrafthall is based there. All the Weyr of Pern, if you need a beta I maybe able to aid. |
