I think Edward was an ass, for 5 years but he isn't the only one to blame.
That whole family seemed to be bad on communicating. Edward never said
what bothered him and nobody confronted him on his attitude.

That's it? That's why he hates his father? I'm sorry but I don't see where his anger is
coming from. I was thinking that maybe Carlisle didn't tell him how serious it was and
that Edward didn't take the first flight out so he missed saying goodbye to his mom.
All I see is a father who didn't want to tell his child that his mother died over the phone.
A father who didn't want to devastate his child when he wasn't there to comfort him.
A father who didn't want his son traveling with that awful news on his shoulders.
He keeps saying that by lying Carlisle stole time with his mom, she was already gone
so that isn't true. I would be more sympathetic if his main reason was missing time with
his mom because of the rift between father and son, that would have made a bit of sense.
I see a son who is looking for someone to blame for his mothers death and his father
is the most convenient because of their rocky relationship. Would he hate Alice if it was
her on the phone telling him to come home? I think not.
He needs to imagine himself getting a phone call right now about his father dying, how
would he feel? He would be sorry that he didn't make things right with him.
I see a son who treated his father like shit for 5 years for no reason. A son who still lived
in his house for free. Shame on him. Carlisle should have pushed the issue years ago.

I figured there had to be problems with the divorce, that it couldn't have been
that easy. I am definitely not an expert but I thought that a no fault divorce just
means that you don't have to state a reason for the divorce. I would still think
that James gets served with papers to sign and if he doesn't sign them than they
will end up in court. Bella probably would have faired better if she claimed abuse,
maybe his consent wouldn't be needed. Now it looks like she left him for someone
else. Again, I am no expert but I agree with Charlie, it can't be that simple.
It is a relief that James isn't stalking Bella but that doesn't mean she isn't being
stalked. I would guess that James has a friend or P.I. following her. Maybe a friend
to drag her back or the P.I. to keep an eye on her before she is required to go back
to Phoenix to finalize the divorce, where he will strike.
There is also the slight chance that James's boss lied for him.
I can't wait to find out what James has up his sleeve, I doubt he will go quietly.

They had a nice evening and Bella finally told him what she needed to.
They are in a good place.
I still don't think Bella is divorced because she filed the paperwork.
James can refuse to give her a divorce and make her go to court.
Which would the perfect way to find her.

Couples are going to argue. Edward does need to tone it down and Bella needs to realize
he isn't James.
Edward should think,or something that includes their mother in the wedding day.
Maybe a wedding picture of Esme, blown up and put it on an easel at the wedding
and reception.
I'm worried that nobody knows what James looks like. I'm waiting for someone named
Jimmy to make friends with Edward.

What was Bella's problem when they were out? Was it the drinking
everyone was doing? Or, knowing they would be going out to party
and drink? I assume James was worse when he was drunk and that
is why she is so against drinking.
She needs to make sure she doesn't condemn others for James's sins.

I could swear Bella and Edward were on her couch with her head in his lap and she
had told him her secret. She cried while he held her and she woke up on the couch
with a blanket on her. The same blanket that was folded on Charlie's chair.
Edward should have already been aware that Bella was in an abusive relationship th
morning of the diner.

I had thought Bella gave the details to Edward already but I may have gotten mixed up because
I had scrolled back to reread some of it and from the pov going back and forth.
I'm glad she told Charlie, she should have done that from the start.
It's smart for him to contact the police to see if he had left town.

I'm glad Edward knows but I could have sworn Bella gave him the abbreviated
version already, when they were on her couch.

I hope that's Edward who came in. Was James in her house?
Is it him who moved the blanket?
I'm assuming she filed for divorce before she left pheonix.
She needs therapy.

Barging into the Chief's house like that was hilarious.
Edward didn't do anything wrong. Bella should have just told
him she wasn't ready to talk about Phoenix yet.
I still think there is a big elephant in the room. Bella is married!
She should not be dating and how dare her date a man without
telling him she is married. That is not ok.
Charlie asked her where her husband was when she had shown up.
If she is divorced, which seems highly unlikely since it sounds like
she ran away than I would like to know.

I wonder what Carlisle did. It sounds like Edward had to come home because his
mother died but there seems to be more to it. Is Edward upset because Carlisle
manipulated events before the accident that kept Edward and his mother apart?
I guess I could understand a father wanted their child to follow in their footsteps,
that's only natural. If your child has a real desire and gift for something else than
you have to know when to back off, it is their life.

How did Alice find her dress? It never said, which was just weird because she was
telling the story about how she found her dress. We got a story on the nasty sales
person who didn't even get any comeuppance after her attitude, they just left. Which
is disappointing after Alice was saying how Rose doesn't take shit from anyone.
We heard that Bella was in an abusive marriage, which we already knew. What I really
want to know is how she got away.

Was James watching Bella? If your hair stands up on the back of your neck
it isn't usually for no reason.
I've heard Bella say she isn't ready to get in a relationship because of what
she went through but I haven't heard her say she can't because she is still
married. Is she still married? I don't see how she is not. I cant see her living
with James while they are getting a divorce.
Charlie had asked about her husband. Did she file? Leave him with divorce
papers when she left?
Bella isn't wrong, Edward didn't give a very good impression of himself. Hours
after the confrontation he was still a nasty ass to her.

Bella needs to come clean with whatever she is hiding before she starts something
with Edward. She is allowed to have her secrets but only if things remain platonic
between her and Edward. We know she was in an abusive relationship but we don't
know if Bella ran and James might come after her or she left because he left her for
someone else. I can just see him coming into the diner looking for his wife.
