| Sweet Sleepless Melody chapter 12 . 6/5/2013
Hey there, darling! It's me again! :D
I apologize that it took me so long-life has been hectic, haha!
But you've done it all over again! I'm just going to list by points:
-Zuko's catharsis as Privileged High-Horse monarch to a Humbled, Enlightened Man is just beautiful. Once again, you convey the struggle over the chapters to the point where I wanted to hug Katara and shake Zuko. You made it clear that he is suffering with a cognitive dissonance: he's believed all his life that the war is best for all, and he is faced (literally) with the fact that it's not. It brought tears to my eyes to see him discover little Li and his mother dead...at the hands of his sister and, inadvertently, at his own hands in the past. Meanwhile, you do a wonderful job of not invalidating Katara's pain in the process. She, too, has a terrible dilemma: the man she loves deeply is the same man that is wrecking havoc on a world she has sworn to protect. As such, she had no choice but to let Li's death hammer home to him, rather than comfort him. Beautifully and tragically done!
-You mastered Azula's manipulation and conniving planning very, very well! She got more than half of the Earth Kingdom and rogue firebenders on her side? Brilliant! I also loved it as a literary device: it truly forced Zuko to work with the very people he had been suppressing himself and, thus, furthered the cognitive dissonance he so-needed. You also showed his remorse at seeing his sister finally dead; she was as much a victim of their father's abuse as he was.
-This is kind of ranting, but a L.O.T of Zutara stories like to show Katara as a damsel in distress and Zuko as a constantly angry caveman wondering what his Wilma Flinstone is doing wandering off of his territory. You did not do that AT ALL. You gave credit and respect to the fact that she's a Master Waterbender, just as Toph is a Master Earthbender and Azula is a Master Firebender. I love how she kicked ass back in the Southern Watertribe, even as she was surrounded by 20 soldiers. I love how she could break people's legs. I loved how she created that ice dagger. I loved how it's noted that she's surpassed her own Master Pakku. I loved especially how she made an air bubble for them on the ocean floor and had enough foresight to know that they would have to stay down there for a while (also, Zuko's eyes bugging out his head? I would've laughed my tail off). Wonderfully done!
-This kind of ties in with my earlier point, but I love how egalitarian the love between Zuko and Katara is. That is, they both take care of each other. They ARE like Tui and La: pushing and pulling. Zuko breaks the impact of the fall into the ocean with his own body when the cliff goes, and Katara makes that air bubble. Katara takes care of the injured after Azula's raid and Zuko carries her home. Zuko doesn't deal the killing blow in the battle, and Katara stops Pakku from attacking him. They are equals and they are partners. I love it!
-The aftermath of the war is realistic in terms of how imperfect it is. There are still skirmishes and wa profiteers popping up. But you beautifully blended that in with stories of Zuko and Katara's life and children together. I swear I got chills down my spine at the thought of Zuko handling assassination attempts on him and his family personally. No one does that to the Firelord's family, war or no war!
There are a lot of other wonderful points, but I think what I said here pretty much nailed my feelings. So I love this fanfiction and you've done yet another wonderful job! Happy summertime, darling! :D

Wow it is done! Congrats it is a magnificent piece of fanfict. I really enjoyed the ending, though if I were to offer any critique would be that the last couple chapters seemed a little rushed and didn't match as well with the rest of the story's pace. But really, this was an awesome story
