Well, now we see where Edward got it from. I was starting to think that there was something wrong with Carlisle's venom. Two of his five "children" went insane. Not a very good record. It's a wonder Esme, Rose, and Emmett turned out okay.

I think Edward got what he deserved. Life with the Volturi. Life as a cabin boy for the guard. He might even man up enough to off himself if it gets too bad for him.

The trial seemed pretty fair to me. though I sort of balk a little bit at the join our cult or die kind of thing.

Like, they're being forced to join the state religion or die.

But they were given a choice. They never gave their coven members a choice of which side they wanted to follow.

Well, you never do get over it, but you get used to it, I guess.

I can’t help it, but I see it as so completely childish and immature of her. When my mother died, I couldn’t lay in bed and cry about it. I had kids to take care of. I had a job I needed to go to.

Bella really has nothing else that needs her attention. Jasper can take care of himself. So Bella is wallowing.

Like she’s the only person in the world to lose a parent.

Now, maybe some of it could be due to Charlie’s being killed by Edward, but Bella still isn’t the only one to have a parent killed. Jeez, kids I knew when I was young … their father shot and killed their mother. In front of a room full of witnesses! (A bar, as a matter of fact.)

Well, dropping her in the lake would sure wake her up. And she struggled to the surface. If she really wanted to die she’d have just sucked in lungfuls of water.

Losing a parent sucks.

She's finally come around. Seeing Edward go to trial should help.

There must be some reason, some thing, that happened to make him want to deny his people and their customs.

But Carlisle has gone so far away, it's going to cause harm to his family. Edward went over the edge with it all and look at how he is suffering because of it. He'll suffer even more. A lot of it Edward was ignorant of because he was never taught. You can't know the rules if no one ever told you.

Some of it is due to his human upbringing, but he wasn't brought up to be an arrogant prick. Some of that has to be blamed on Carlisle for encouraging it. Edward's never had too many boundaries places on him before and now it's all blowing up in his face.

And body parts.

Edward deserved some more pain, but having an eye removed and burned was good.
