Interesting that what came to mind as I was reading was this: B talked about choices in regard to Thomas and Chloe, and she suggested that they could have chosen to stop things before anything went badly. Esme is in that same situation too, isn't she? She could choose to get away from her husband rather than asking her sons to get along with someone who sounds like a real asshole. Wonder if there is more to his story? She seems to be too forgiving of the man's behavior, that's for sure. Bella is in a tough spot, now that she knows E's secret... very tricky tightrope.
It's very cool to see that characterization has always been your strong suit, doll - you created great characters from the start as I saw how long ago you wrote this fic - ;)
