| theHuntgoeson chapter 1 . 8/20/2010
I seriously love the idea of the Railway Arms being just a part of a complete coppers' afterlife, with stations, criminals, coppers, even Luigi's and Alex's flat. And the idea of Gene's belongings turning up at the flat to herald the arrival of the man himself is perfect. So is Gene's realisation that Roberts will be his successor because they are "too similar", the description of Sam and Annie dancing on Friday night, and especially the lovers' reunion. Thank you so much!
| Katie Duggan's Niece chapter 1 . 7/4/2010
Just a wonderful story, a creative response to various unanswered questions A2A and LOM fans had, such as "What really happens when you spend eternity in the pub?"
I loved your characterizations of Sam, Gene, and Nelson in particular, including the line "'First round is on the house...What am I saying? All the rounds are on the house!'" The reference to Gene's stubbornness was right on the mark as well, and Sam's being the voice of reason.
I loved that you had CID take over the wine bar and keep the yuppies out, and that Luigi had his part to play in this version of heaven. And the encounter at the end was brilliantly set up, with fitting references to old Westerns.
GALEX is back. Yay!

Adored this, seriously beautiful. Loved idea of Roberts and Gene being 'too similar'- brilliant way to symbolise the fact that Gene's got himself an 'heir' so to speak. I also loved Gene's stuff randomly appearing in the next world in Alex's flat- foreshadowing that he was also going to be moving on!
And of course, the G&A reunion: "She felt a presence behind her, the hairs on her arms standing up, tears springing into her eyes, her stomach clenching painfully." - sent shivers up me!
The image of slightly stubbly Gene is also rather hot. ;)

| SLovingLecter chapter 1 . 5/27/2010
I really liked it, the ending especially. You are right; they did deserve a better ending :)
| Marshmallows rock chapter 1 . 5/27/2010
That was so lovely and sad, and tied things up very nicely :) It also reminded me of my English teacher referring to a late colleague as being in "the great staffroom in the sky". Nice job
| Siggy chapter 1 . 5/27/2010
Ah that was a beautiful ending to Gene and Alex's story. You made me cry but in a good way.
| Gem6 chapter 1 . 5/26/2010
| Dinny93 chapter 1 . 5/26/2010
I loved the closing lines! Pure Gene-Genie :D Fantastic :D Any chance of more? Very well written with good description & I like the idea that they still get to live the life they want in their own world, just free of burden.
| Deweynumbers chapter 1 . 5/26/2010
'But you know how bloody stubborn he is' and 'kissing her with years of longing and loneliness': a pair of great character phrases. It was the gut-wrenching loneliness in the last episode that really got to me so I'm glad you've resolved the final problem.
Your description of the videos, razor and Racing Post migrating to Alex's 'new' flat added a welcome touch of humour. Works well.
| theoofoof chapter 1 . 5/26/2010
Oh I love it so much! For something written in just a day, it's great. Don't worry about adding to the already large number of post finale fan fic - I could read them for ever and a day. And each one is always unique. Love the idea of stuff disappearing from Gene's world then reappearing in Alex's.
| Novindalf chapter 1 . 5/26/2010
Aww! Love it! D
