I know it has been awhile since you have written this but I came across your one-shot after browsing through someone's favorites. I can't find the original contest but if you didn't win, I'd be very surprised. I was not satisfied with the explanations SM gave for Rose's behavior toward Bella. It made absolutely no sense that she was jealous of Bella b/c Edward showed interest in her. I could see that she envied Bella's humanity and I am glad that it was only that reason that was touched in the movie. I loved how you pointed out the similarities b/t Edward and Rose as well as Bella and Emmett. I never thought that Bella and Em simply wanted to "love a broken person". That's an interesting perspective. I love how you pointed out how Rose wasn't jealous of what Bella had but rather just wanted the options that were taken from her after the change. I actually read a fic called "Harvest Moon" by content1 where Rose actually does some growing up. In one of the outtakes, she appologizes to Emmett for making him feel like he was not enough and for not surrendering her past to him. It seems to me that they could not move forward together unless that part was acknowledged and I am glad you pointed it out here too. I added you to my favorites. I am no writer but maybe there are a few in my profile that may interest you. You've done a great job, keep it up :-)

It's nice to see how deep Emmett and Rosalie's character's are. Not just the fun-loving simple minded Emmett and the bitchy cold Rosalie.

THis is just lovely-a nice explanation of what Rose is trying to say to bella in Eclipse: "Rose doesn't want what Bella has; Rose wants what Rose had back. She wants the hope that she'll have a little baby like Vera's; she wants the possibilities. She wants a future, and the problem with futures is, they aren't static. She loves me, but I don't change."

And all the ways that you say that Rosalie and Edward are similar. That's very nice. Especially this one: "What Rose and Edward don't get is that sometimes a person wants to love a broken person."

And this with Bella- "But when you love a broken person, you don't get to choose when they're ready for you." I think by the end of Breaking Dawn Edward is a little less broken, but you're right, he's still guilt ridden.

Wow. Just.. wow.

This is so insightful. It's brilliant to see the deeper side of Emmett, which we all know he has, and not just the joker Meyer portrays. You perfectly described Rosalie and Edward through his eyes; the pain and the guilt they feel.

But you also relate that to Emmett and how he feels about Rose, and how Bella feels about Edward. I didn't think that anyone could sum Emmett's feelings for Rosalie up, but you just did.

wow. by the time i got to the end, you and emmett had me in tears.

"Rose doesn't want what Bella has; Rose wants what Rose had back." this line really emphasises the difference between the rosalie in the books and the rosalie that emmett is talking about here. it gives a new depth to her character that you don't quite see when viewing her through bella and edward's eyes, because they don't love and understand her the way emmett does.

I like any story that respects Emmett and uses him as more than comic relief. This was far more than respect, so you get a lot more tham my mere "like." :-) I'll be a bit haunted by some of the Rose images you created.

Seeing Eclipse on screen only exacerbated the giant plothole of Rose's bitterness and EMMETT'S lack of choice.

It's nice to get Emmett's POV on it, giving Rose a bit of redemption, even if she owes him much more than she gives.

"When you love a broken person, you don't get to choose when they're ready for you" Hm. In practice, this can mean uncompromising loyalty, if the break occurs after the union ...or insidious abuse, if it's "always been that way." I think I'm more comfortable seeing Emmett as "handling" Rose, lifting her out of her funk, not tiptoeing around her and enduring her black moods. But that's just me.
