Reviews for Secondhand Rose |

![]() ![]() ![]() This was so beautiful. You gave such depth to Emmett. Seeing his relationship with Rosalie through his eyes was very enlightening - it was beautiful, yet a little sad - but the joy he gets outweighs any of the sadness. This has just been added to my favorite one-shit list - it was wonderful. |
![]() ![]() ![]() This is a really, really interesting perspective on Emmett and Rose, but even Edward and to some extent Bella (liked I'd love to see Emmett have that conversation with Bella that he thinks about having toward the end.) "those are nights I know I'm going to be working forever to never have it be good enough for her." Ow, chica. Just...ow. But it's answer is this line, "sometimes a person wants to love a broken person." Thanks, as usual, for writing and sharing. |
![]() ![]() ![]() That was an AMAZING story! I LOVED IT! There's really nothing else to say other than you're an amazing author! |
![]() ![]() ![]() One of the - if not the - best Emmett pieces I've ever read. Honestly. Your characterization was simply perfect. The language you used was great, too - occasionally using ain't or saying "Rose and me" instead of "Rose and I". One of the lines I really liked was the part about Edward seeing things in black and white. "Which is funny because everyone else thinks I'm the simple one." I also really loved the comparison you drew between Edward and Rose and Emmett and Bella. Basically, I loved the whole thing. It really was fabulous. Thank you :-). |
![]() ![]() ![]() Who knew Emmett was such a feminist, wanting to take Rose's name and all :) Maybe he can for their sixth wedding. I thought the mirror-breaking stuff was a nice take on Rose. I can so see her breaking the mirrors and then later sending Emmett to buy more. Also, I love the idea of vampires sitting there 'buffering' when trying to retrieve a memory. I do that too sometimes. Good luck with the contest. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I've said it beforeāin mature relationships, there's always a bit of ourselves we know we're holding back, and if our partners are reasonably intelligent, they are aware of it. It they are emotionally mature, they don't hold it against us. Thought provoking and lovely, and I love what you did with his voice. Both his humble background and his intelligence come across, something which is hard to do on paper. "anyways" a word which usually makes me cringe, works here. |
![]() ![]() Wow, just wow. I loved this. Emmett is so often portrayed as a one dimensional jock who thinks with his dick, and yet it's so obvious that he's way mouch more than that - Rosalie couldn't be with a one dimensional sex driven jock. Seeing into his thougts on the other family members, his thoughts on his life, his thoughts on Bella - it was great to read. I feel you've gotten him down so well, and his voice, just so Emmett. I dont' get much time to read these days - but I'm glad I get to read thought provoking, insightful material from writers who really delve into the nooks and crevices of a character's mind. |
