Sam seems to get shut in cages way too often for his own good. This is set after John's death, right? I really liked the story.
| ROBINV chapter 1 . 6/20/2010
Another fantastic read!
That creature was totally creepy, just picturing it made me nauseous! Our poor boys are always fodder for those kinds of things!
I love the brotherly moments here, they're subtle and there are so many of them.
This goes on my favorites list.

Psychic vamps: what an awesome villain. *shudders* Very creepy.
Fantastic mix of a great hunt and wonderful brother moments. And Sam disappearing from under Dean's nose will always be one of the elder Winchester's greatest nightmares. Swan Song gave us more proof of that. Loved how you captured his just barely controlled panic.
And the image of Dean shoving fresh blueberries in his mouth (and wiping berry-stained fingers on his jeans) just made me smile.
Another great read. Thank you.

Note: One of the creepiest summaries I've ever read when I got the author alert you'd posted a new story. :D
the hastily scrawled "Shut up" that had signaled his slipping out to meet Sarah one evening in New York - LOL!
| ziggy.uk chapter 1 . 6/19/2010
Great fic. Awesome motw and loved how you showed how in tune the boys are even subconsciously - Dean knowing instinctively something was wrong and waking up, finding Sam gone and Sam saying Dean's name in his sleep and turning towards him. And could so imagine Dean eating the fruit as he picked it whereas Sam put it in his box as he picked! Guess Dean gets more free fruit though!

The psychic vamp was truly creepy, and the atmosphere you created just added to all the womderful imagery.
Loved the talk between the bros at the end there. It brought back some pleasant memories of my teenage years picking apples in the estate orchards.
Cheers hon. Lovely as always.

This was a satisfying read and it ticked all of my boxes. A great motw, the boys relationship being tested due to the death of their Dad, the h/c, the fear and worry, the protectiveness form both boys and of course that infamous banter! Highly entertaining.
It seems like an age since Sam's abilities were viewed this way, so innocent and unknown. And I like it when authors put a spin on them and play around with the idea. I always thought the show could have done much more with them in the early days. It was nice too seeing the positive aspect of them, instead of just the negative because if Sam hadn't had such a strong reaction to the house (and the vampire) then Dean would never had known he was there.
Great and refreshing idea with having Dean hold the knife to Sam's throat, I don't think I've ever stumbled across that before. You certainly can't beat Dean's poker face. And it really highlighted the trust that these boys instinctively have, even when Sam is injured and not quite firing on all cylinders. Really nice touch.
I liked how you didn't just play Sam as the helpless victim. Having him being the one to banish the vampire in the end as he tries to protect his brother really fits so well with his character and stubborn nature.
The ending was great too. Seeing the boys linger in memories that remind them of their Dad and their childhood in a more positive light. Dean acknowledging that he needs his brother and Sam sneakily managing to tease some chick flick moments out of Dean.
A very enjoyable and thrilling fic, exactly what I was after! Catch you next time, take care, Abbi

I really enjoyed this. An interesting plot and I liked Dean's (albeit silent) acknowledgement that Sam's presence is what keeps him together. I liked the way you showed that both boys have come to depend on each other more than anyone else - even more than they ever depended on their Dad - even in his dreams Sam only cries out for Dean now. I liked that:-) Good job with this.

You know, stories like this kinda make you wonder if the bad things out there really do know just how much these guys need each other. Clearly, this thing was only interested in its own need, but Azazel was banking on it, as we found out. He can't have been the only one. Yes, most of the creatures they come across only want one or both of them for their own purposes, but there have got to be some nasty things out there with enough intelligence to see that one without the other leaves the remaining one desperate and frantic and determined to find and save the one taken. Things that either feed on or delight in how much anguish the guys go through when one of them is hurt or missing. I bet they exist, although they're probably a particularly bad breed of nasty.
I had to chuckle when Sam questioned Dean's choice of words after the psychic vampire was dead. Somehow I wound up reading into that a very exhausted Sam saying, "Dude, melodramatic much?" Yes, there was absolute trust there, but come on! We can't have Sam and Dean saying that in so many words! Although that had to be one freaking nasty chomp for Sam's tongue to bleed like that. Even an ordinary tongue bite hurts! Anyway, well done.
