I really liked this. I like that you didn't immediately jump into what happened between DG and Cain before he left and you kept that ambiguous feeling through most of the story, just hints of the end to come.

I have read and am reading your other tin man stories. you have a talent for writing and scenery, of your works that I have read this one seems... dreary. no real ups or downs curiosity kept pushing me on to read and for all the sadness of the story the resolution feels weak. of anything I have read on ffn, this feels like a story of almost real life. everyday drowning. it is hard to describe. I cant say that this story is good. ... but I cant say that is was bad it just ... is.
this is well written

Oh my Ozma was this amazing! What a great journey down the yellow brick road. Love the imagery of the mural, should have said it sooner. The Ruby/ Silver slippers- just wondering what you were thinking of when you mentioned them. I feel like there is a story behind them.. ;p I also thought for sure there would have been some trouble they saw on the road with all of your allusions to it, not to mention your other stellar works. And his sister? Nice red herring, although I wonder... I'm a terrible instigator ;p
Thank you for the AMAZING! story!

:) I thought you said there would be answers by now ;) I love the bread crumbs. This may be my favorite story of yours by far, maybe not I still have two incomplete stories to read... I know you love the mystery, the clues the chase but riddle me this will I be devastated if I embark on the next two tinman stories and find them, well you know... naked , vulnerable, undone? ;p

Okay I realized what it is with this story that really gets me going, in a great way. It's your incredible attention to the small, in just enough ways where it adds to the story in it's reinforcement of ideas. (I'm sure there is a more apt word describing this, but I'm not a writer so I'm not aware of it;) What I mean by that is the lines beginning with "the flames at away at the thick deadfall..." so perfectly mirror the intense conversation going on. And you have done this a few times in the story which I didn't point out before because it took me a moment to realize how accurately they reflected the scene they were being used in. kudos

I'm really enjoying the "when last we met" intro. It's cute and different.

Where is this story going? *squeals of delight* You have again ensnared me in your cleverly woven web. But I notice there are some Tin stories left unfinished... perhaps they are just hiding on your computer somewhere *blinking innocently with DG's wide eyes*:)
