UndulatingLights chapter 1 . 4/23/2013
Poetry in words.
Great job Summer. It reminds me of how in real life, everyone has their heart broken. Everyone would much rather be the heartbreaker, but we can't choose what we do in life, do we? :(
Cookie Seller On The Dark Side chapter 1 . 2/8/2013

MargaeryStarks chapter 1 . 4/13/2011
This story I'm not even sure how to describe it using words. It's incredibly sad, and I was really knocked away by the emotion you put into it. Calypso was always a character that I sympathized for in the PJO series. How stupid that she had to be punished like this, her heart being broken over and over again, never-endingly, just because she was the daughter of a Titan. Wonderfully written. Well done. This is going to my faves.

Amazing! :) Loved it.
potentially lovely chapter 1 . 2/6/2011
*wipes tears away* *sniffles* Just give me a minute...*blows nose*

Ah, the heartbreaking tale of Calypso! It appears I'm a bit late reading this fic, but I was compelled to review this tragically beautiful awesomeness.

I personally think this is your best writing that I've read. Your words flow so smoothly it's impressive, your imagery is astonishingly vivid and you give a whole new facet to the character of Calypso. This really captures the anguish she goes through each time a hero goes through Ogygia, and the bittersweet that she feels upon remembering each one of them.

I was amazed at many of the phrases you used; the last paragraph was my favorite. All in all, this was an extremely well-written, moving piece. I'm not surprised at all that it won an award. :*)

Have a super-awesome day and...well, you know the rest!

You're a powerful writer.
Just Call Me Linda chapter 1 . 12/23/2010
Oh my gosh, that was heart-wrenching. I never really liked Calypso in the books, she just seemed a bit off to me. But this is making me look at her in a whole new light.

This whole story has excellent imagery, it has a very romantic feel to it. I know it's not a romance, but the vivid description and how do describe the flowers and the scenery really makes it feel that way. I love it. :)

Oh, and I absolutely adore the ending. It's perfect. It's heart-breaking, and the reader can really feel Calypso's despair, but can tell how she is resigned to the horrible situation that she is in (I know those two things seem to contradict each other, but it is the only way i can think to describe it's perfection). And the next boy washing up on shore really is an amazing way to end it. It shows the cycle starting over, not merely stating that will. Oh, and one of my favorite lines is in that paragraph: "She put on a brave expression and turned to face the rush of the winds, ready to begin the heartbreaking cycle yet again." That's absolutely gorgeous. You really humanized Calypso, and made her seem like the average young woman, who just can't help falling in love.

OH! And one last thing that I really enjoyed: I loved how you mentioned the flowers throughout the story. Another of my favorite lines was "the roses could use some trimming." I know it's not an overly dramatic line of anything like that, but it really made the story more realistic. Even when heartbroken, it is not all that people focus on. Making her all the more realistic makes the story even more heart-wrenching. Poor Calypso :/

Overall, I love the story. It's the perfect one-shot. Adding any more chapters would take away from the simple beauty of it :)

I heard about this story winning an award, Congrats! You deserve it :)

Midnight Sol chapter 1 . 12/18/2010
SunnyD, m'dear, you have crafted something special here. Very pretty. I can almost smell the sea-breeze and feel the tears . . .

Wistful, emotional, fleeting and painful. The character painted vividly in words.

You know I love you dearest. You've done *very* well.

storm-brain chapter 1 . 11/17/2010
This story was nomianted for the Verita award.

The nominator said: This fanfic is deep, and breathtaking. Excellent word choices, amazing detail, and it fit perfectly with Calypso's situation. The story made you feel something inside, it made you think. Even though it was a mere 1,104 words. This story is worthy of winning.

Cascading Rainbows chapter 1 . 10/17/2010
Summer, this was-breathtaking.

I loved every part of this. One thing I would point out is that making "Only one." a separate paragraph would make the last sentence more powerful.

10/10, though. It was a fantastic oneshot.

Klbooks chapter 1 . 10/16/2010
Ooh...saddening, and somewhat serene...with thoughtfulness, and other stuff...

Anyway, it's prettyful! LW77 already did the critiquing, so I can just do the congratulating!

Good job, Summer, you did great writing it! It's cool how you thought up enough stuff to make this story look so substantial, sometimes the thought stories look a bit thin, and the paragraphs really short, but that's not the case with this fic. It has good description, and I rather like how you ended it.
