Reviews for Irritation |

![]() ![]() ![]() Wow, this is so brilliantly written. A character study on someone as smart as Artemis is no easy task, but this was perfectly done. And the Psychiatrist was expertly written too. Bravo! |
![]() ![]() ![]() I have never looked at equality in that way. Thank you for broadening my mind a bit more. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I posted this review originally in chapter 2 when it is better suited at the end. So, I reposted it here. I think it is OOC for Artemis to ask the psychiatrist if they are equals and then be disappointed by the answer 'No'. Artemis Fowl would not acknowledge other's superiority that easily. This would be a statement better suited to the end where the psychiatrist has proven his worth. There are also other scenes where Artemis acts OOC to give the psychiatrist a chance to be better. The psychiatrist tells that Artemis is superior to him but the story implies otherwise. Because in the story, the only time Artemis claims a clear upper hand is when his opponent is distraught when it should be otherwise. Overall, this is a great story only held back by the name of the characters. I would have enjoyed it more if it were anyone else(maybe an AU featuring L as Light's psychiatrist). Artemis Fowl has many strengths but his greatest strengths are his ability to make a complicated plot work and his ability to play mind games with his opponent. Any story where he was consistently outmatched mentally would be out of character. |

![]() ![]() ![]() Thanks for the food for thought. It helped me figure out my IB essay, haha. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Good chapter- actually pretty good fic in general. Have you heard the Pleasure and Pain argument before? It details how we are inexorably bound to choose the option that brings us the most pleasure/least pain and are incapable of choosing otherwise. Reminded me of this. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Rather amusing. Quite enjoyable! Their interactions were very fun. Good work! |
![]() ![]() ![]() Brilliantly written and throughly enjoyed! Poor Artemis...did he actually win..? |
![]() ![]() ![]() What I don't believe is that throughout all their exchanges, Banks didn't at least mention that, while sane, he was still a narcissist. |
![]() ![]() BRILLIANT. I started reading and couldn't stop. Binge-read the whole thing. Excellently done - you should be proud of yourself in this accomplishment! |
![]() ![]() ![]() I dunno, I reckon Banks won their little game. He correctly identified Artemis’ pathology (or lack thereof), gained his respect, cane out of dealing with Artemis unscathed and had Artemis be a little nicer to future psychiatrists/psychologists which is more than any other doctor had managed from him. |
![]() ![]() ![]() This was a really cool read! I love the mind games, and especially that you can also see the people hiding behind those carefully woven lines of speech and body language. Thank you for writing this and sharing it with us! |
![]() ![]() ![]() That psychiatrist is gives not one iota of a damn. I love him already. |
![]() ![]() The talk about determinism and where they said that because subatomic particles have no free will; so neither do we, reminded me about the debate in Xenocide and Children of the Mind about philotes and auias. |
![]() ![]() Now I usally spare none of my little patience on fan fiction as it usually is a lot of romantic waffle but upon coming across this (though at first a tad sceptical) I have read your story and am impressed upon how genuine it is and how Artemis is indeed Artemis and not a morphed version of himself and your writing skills are commendable and impressive. My highest complements to you. |
