Reviews for The Curse of Anubis Raid
tallsunshine12 chapter 53 . 6/11/2021
Interesting story, to say the least. Very vague though on Cheri's origins, her assignment or what she had to gain by her intervention. Except for the bright personality, and the liberally sprinkled four-letter words, she's not very well developed as a meaningful character.

Good action description.

Why did the Rats Patrol follow the Germans all the way into Egypt? Their obligations are with the actual war. The first person accounts were a novelty. I'm finished, but I don't know what I've read, though The Mummy was/is unknown to me.

Really glad to see this story get a new update just as I was in the middle of reading it. This is an extremely intriguing setup and I look forward to seeing more!

Chaching53 chapter 36 . 1/14/2013
Excellent! I need more, patience is not one of my virtues. This waiting kills me, but I understand the process. Keep it up!
Firefall chapter 35 . 8/25/2012
I'm enjoying this very much. Not sure who the creepy cultists are, but your sure got the weirdometer hitting the red. Hoping for more soon.
Kansas Scout chapter 18 . 2/24/2011
read the latest chapters and was pleasantly surprised at the flow of the story.
atymer chapter 13 . 2/16/2011
Cheri has everyone confused, when she came and why, she probably doesn't even get it.

I'm glad the Rats will be waiting although the vibe around Karnak probably won't be enough to warn them off of the rest of the journey. I don't think Ardeth will be able to keep Alex in camp. The nightmare of memory isn't enough to keep the boy out of this, not if it means some way has been found to resurrect any of the horrors that were supposedly destroyed.

Perhaps Ardeth is so duty bound to the survival of his tribe that he cannot see anyone willing to share his blankets.

He obviously doesn't recognize jealousy when it's right under his nose.

Do the Germans have something that good rise the dead? I shudder to think.
atymer chapter 9 . 2/16/2011
Bad, bad, stay away!

Everybody has got to go now? Well I get it, it's war and Hitler's crazy and Hauptman Deitrich doesn't have a choice.

And even if it's a legend, if the German's have an interest we have to have one two. But it will end so badly for everyone, we all know it will.

Sigh...but we can not shout at the television like back in the day. We can only wait on the author's compassion for us to find out who will survive. That is a not hint for more soon, really its not!
Kansas Scout chapter 8 . 2/15/2011
I like the way you are doing the latest updates. I think doing this as a serial novel is working. It harks back to the parctices of Dickens and the other writers of the mid 1800s.
Kansas Scout chapter 7 . 2/15/2011
"She shook blue black hair out of her face to find my Ruger inches" I think you meant to say Luger in this line. Though the more common German pistol of WW-2 from the mid-30s to the end of the War was the Walther P-38 also a 9mm Parabellum firearm. It had an 8-round magazine and was an easier action to keep clean in places like the North African desert. The Ruger is the common name for any firearm made by Strum, Ruger, and Co. an American firearms company that had its beginnings in the 1950s nearly a full decade after the end of the Second World War. Otherwise you have a good story going Not Dragon.
atymer chapter 4 . 11/6/2010
It just hit me 'relic', they are not looking for the creature! Duh, relic! That old screwball Hitler, trying to get the undefeatable army, well damn!

My dear rats are going to be waist deep in it for sure.

But on the other hand, the author has snuck in a few curves. Cheri for one BIG one and missing females. And who wiped out the oasis anyway and why?

So I guess this means I'm hooked. I like the various viewpoints and hope the story keeps getting posted that way.

Going to add this to my Story Alert so I don't miss the next chapter. I like it.
atymer chapter 3 . 11/6/2010
Oh my Lord. The baby O'Connell on vacation. Arm the guards, get the cannons and if all else fails run! LOL

Uneasy, Ardeth is only uneasy? Is he nuts? He should have realized the portent of doom when the bright eyed perky brat arrived.

And little Evi the smuggler. That is hilarious and yet, so proof of her honor and debt to Ardeth and his people.

Oh and it touched my heart at the end when Ardeth mentioned El Aurens and his frustrated efforts to elevate the Arab Nation in the 'first' world war.
atymer chapter 2 . 11/6/2010
Well Cheri certainly is a mystery to everyone, yet has disarmed them all. But I'm still glad the Patrol didn't hang around any longer.

I got a bad feeling about why the Germans were camped out in this cursed place. I certainly know that some serious ugliness can ambush the Nazi if they remain.

On to get my curiosity satisfied.
atymer chapter 1 . 11/6/2010
Well, I don't actually know who Cheri is but the character made me laugh despite the hint that she must be something more than human are gifted in a science fiction or supernatural way.

I don't take anyone giving Troy a hard time lightly! To be sure he was my Fav of the Rat Patrol.

Of course finding they were in Hamunaptra gives one the shivers!
