Another great story. I just wish you had lets us all know what really happen to Bones. Please keep up the great work.
| Yellowbulma chapter 1 . 4/18/2011
Sam's eyes watered. "I'll love you know matter what." Sam snuggled down next to Bones, his hand curling into the muddy coat. "Even if you never want to hunt a rabbit or fetch a stick. You're not something to be trained…" A tear rolled down Sam's cheek. "You don't have to please me." A sob left Sam's throat. "You're my friend, my family, a-a-and," Sam stuttered. " No matter what you do or don't do, I'll always be there for you."
This part just broke my heart! Poor Sammy! (

I enjoyed this little snippet about Bones and Sam. But, Bones D: I loved how you included mentions of the fireworks bit...thanks for posting. :)

Dude, you killed the dog! I can't believe it! That just made me so sad. I loved your little AU with Bones until that!
I think at 14 Sam would definitely be having thoughts of running away and finding the dog made that time alone more special. But, in typicaly Sam fashion, everything that the boy loves dies. Even dogs. Booooo!
In any case, it was a lovely story. I especially like that you had John find him instead of Dean, giving it that much more of a sense of urgency! Nicely done!
| bohumut chapter 1 . 7/20/2010
You should write another chapter for John and Dean's side of the story. :) :)
| Shannanigans chapter 1 . 7/17/2010
Wonderful! I love how you explored this story. I almost cried when you hinted at Bones dying! I do like that John saved Sam, even though he is tough on Sam.
I want to go where dogs go too. I once had an argument with someone who was deeply offended that I suggested that dogs go to heaven. They believe that only beings with souls go to heaven. Psh, dogs have souls, I think so anyway. The love they have for us is too pure.

Sorry for the late review.
You did warn there was a slight tissue warning...
You killed Bones. I know he was a hero, but still very sad.
I enjoyed your backstory on Sam and Bones, though I'll admit I was a little upset with Sam leaving his family, he didn't seem to worry about them being upset he was gone. I could understand why Sam wanted to leave, but still it was rough.
Of course I loved Bones and the scenes with Sam and him.
I guess I was upset when I read the scene with the fire, because I thought it was Dean that had found Sam at first than realized it was John.
Loved Dean comforting Sam while at the hospital and Sam seeking his big brother.
Great ending when Sam asked about heaven. Love that Bones met him in heaven in the episode. That was one moment Kripke got right this last season, yes, animals do go to heaven and our animal friends and 'family' are there waiting for us. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing another story with us. I enjoyed reading it, even though it was sad in places. You did a great job with the younger Winchesters and their voices.
Until next time, take care.

"Everything dies, Dean."
"You're not. I won't let you."
- Loved this wee bit at the end. Oh how literal Dean is actually being.
And Bones! *takes a few tissues* Now that I'm alone and can have an embarrassing meltdown in private... Oh, that was just brilliant.
You know, when I saw the scene that this story is based on one of the first things I thought was "that is perfect fanfic material". (Actually, there were a few good 'prompts' in that episode), but yours is the first story I've read on the subject.
So I was thrilled with this. Just thrilled. Thanks for an awesome read. :)

Ah, that little flashback was so calling for a fic! I toyed with the idea of writing one myself, but yours is GREAT! I loved so many things about this... that part where Sam told Bones he would never yell at him, or get angry with him if he didn't do what Sam wanted - that was just so sad and adorable - poor Sammy! And I loved how you had John rescue him, but all the while making it seem that it was Dean. I don't know if that's what you intended, but I really thought it was Dean, and then to discover it was JOhn all along... it was lovely to sneak a look at him being a loving father :-) And then, of course, Dean hugging Sam at the end(ish) and Sam falling asleep in his arms... what a great bro-love fix for a Monday morning!

Wow, this was really great! I thoroughly enjoyed the entire story. You really wrote 14 yr. old in denial Sam extremely well. I particularly liked your set-up for that, "He was fourteen and being fourteen, he didn't think about things like consequences or where his next meal would come from, where he'd live, how he'd find a job. Sam didn't plan in advance for those sorts of things, he just planned." How very 14.
The story progresses so naturally, and I loved the part when Sam tells Bones, " "I'll never yell at you, or make you do something you don't want to do. You can trust me." Sam's eyes watered. " No matter what you do or don't do, I'll always be there for you." Wow.
I liked that Sam missed Dean, but still couldn't go back, "He missed Dean. If only the supernatural world he knew lay under those stars didn't foil the magic of what could be. He'd left Dean alone in that world. A world Sam didn't want to deal with." and ... Sam felt a twinge of guilt for what Dean might be going through now, but not enough to do much about it. He figured Dean would be fine. He'd get on with the hunt." Yes, he had to be 14. But who could blame him.
And then you hit us with, "After everything I've done, you take off without a word." Bones whimpered, crouching down low and staring sadly up at Sam. "I didn't know where you were," Sam ranted on ignoring the look. "Don't ever do that again. Do you realize how worried I was. How scared? I thought… I thought…" A single fleeting image of his dad and brother flashed in Sam's mind. "Just…" Sam tossed his hair out of his eyes and sighed, "Just don't chew the other one."
Bones crept closer, nudging his muzzle under Sam's chin affectionately.
"Okay, I get it, you're sorry." Sam wrapped his arms around Bones' neck. "It's okay. I'll just walk around wearing half a boot. You're still my dog."
And I'm still crying. Wow, this whole story was just amazing! So well written and so in tune with Sam's 14 yr. old thoughts. Thank you so much for posting it. It was just great!

Great take on Sammy running away. I loved Sam with Bones, it was such a great boy/dog relationship. I was sad that you killed the doggy though, but in a way it had to be that way. The ending, when Dean said he would hope to go to the Rockets dressing room, was funny. I liked the addition, if I die and you don't. I agreed with Sam saying, he wanted to go where dogs go. And yes, dogs go to heaven, so do pet birds, I know, I have two dogs and one pet conure waiting for me. Hugs, Vonnie
