| Guest chapter 1 . 9/14/2013
I read this story a few years back and whenever I revisit clamp and kurofai I always end up here. It took me a while to find out the name since I forgotten but really this is my favourite fan fiction even to this day. The characters are just so spot on that I just can't complain. Anyhow I just wanted to write a review on my appreciation, thank you.

Include gray and Ian. Maybe you could try to make Ian's girl the type who can hold her ground as well as motherly? Someone who won't get scared off by his dad, anyway. Maybe it was the dad who introduced them!
As for gray, maybe a girl who knows taekwondo and doesn't hesitate if she and gray fights. And she's stronger than gray. The 'seems more like friends than a couple' type of relationship would probably work.
You're really good at this. Keep it up! Good luck with it!

I absolutely adored this story. It is either the best or second best Tsubasa AU I have read. You will be posting the sequel on right?
| BLEACH IT WHITE chapter 14 . 7/6/2013
Last night, I read up to chapter 14 and went to bed and 1:30 am. HOLY COW. This is exactly what a Tsubasa AU should be. The characterizations are absolutely perfect, and though when I started I was wary of the name changes, now I can't think of how you could do a modern, set in America AU any other way. I really appreciate all the obvious research you put into writing this. You treat each illness carefully and with respect, and it's not often, I've found, you come across that. It reminds immensely of John Green's treatment of illness in The Fault In Our Stars, and if you haven't read that book, know that this possibly one of the biggest compliments I can give. I also ADORE all of the crossovers. I haven't read Kobato (though I did find that subplot of the story very interesting), but xxxHolic is near and dear to my heart. The really fascinating thing about your writing is that when I'm reading the Tsubasa sections, it feels like a Tsubasa AU, and when I'm reading the xxxHolic sections, it feels like a xxxHolic AU. That may sound kind of obvious, but you manage to recreate the expirience of reading xxxHolic and Tsubasa side by side. They are very different stories which interconnect, and you portray that perfectly. Also, KOHANE! She's one of my favorites, and I'm glad you brought her in earlier than in the original. I really enjoy that we also get to read Zack's POV on Averil. (great way of bringing in the April 1st thing, by the way.)
So, in short, A job.

That was amazing.
| Kyo lover with little sanity chapter 27 . 4/4/2013
I love this story and how you translated Tsubasa and XXXholic events into our world. I also like how you characterize these characters.
| 0Requiem chapter 27 . 1/21/2013
I found this (along with your lovely Gearheads fic) through Konnichipuu's beautiful art, and I'm so glad I did. I admit - the switching of names seemed a bit unnecessary and confusing at first, even if I did understand why you did it, but it ceased to matter a chapter into the story. Your characterization was so spot on that most of the characters were immediately recognizable (all of them, probably, but I'm not familiar with all of CLAMP's works). As the plot unfolded, you left me stunned at how masterfully you incorporated canon events from the CLAMPverse into your story, something that must've taken heaps of creativity to transform into real life possibilities.
Also, the characters. Wow. One would think that having a story encorporate the enormity of the CLAMPverse cast and respective back stories would be an impossibility - or turn it into a bad soap opera - but no. I came for KuroFai, but ended up falling in love and pinning for every single one of your characters.
Which is what brings me to the fourth point of your A/N.
It really saddens me to hear that having Gray and Ian end up together is not where you are going with this. I haven't read the CLAMP work they're originally from, but I feel like they would be one of those characters that CLAMP imply that are in love with each other (much like KuroFai and the rest of their beloved ambiguously homosexual characters). Making them not only end up with other people, but OCs at that, seems like an oddly... wrongful..? thing to do... It breaks my heart just to think about it, which is why, as much as I'd love love /love to hear more of them in the sequel, I am decidedly going to skip over the parts where they're mentioned, if you decide to include them. Ridiculously childish, I know, but I've come to love them and their dysfunctional relationship more than I ever could any strong, independent female you'd write up for them. I'd love the OCs separately, no doubt there, but I'd resent them for messing up what I see as an amazing couple.
That said, I do think you should write their story into the sequel, after all. You feel that that's what would be right for their characters as you wrote them out to be, and no review should convince you to keep the story to yourself just because the idea isn't incredibly popular. Whoever doesn't want to see them with female OCs is free to sulk and skip over their parts as I am, but it's not fair to leave them out and spoil it for the rest of the readers or for you. The story is yours, after all, and not ours (mind you, if it were ours, everyone would probably already be going at it like bunnies by the end of the fic, lol), so you shouldn't be pressured into anything from our reviews.
You have incredible creativity, and this story was probably more entertaining than you'll ever know. Thank you /so much for sharing it with us, and I'm already at the edge of my seat waiting for the sequel (saw the calebfinn art Konnichipuu drew for it, and almost died of expectation)!
Oh- I almost forgot! Are you planning on adding X characters to it? I really missed the X cast here, especially seeing how its one of CLAMP's most popular and crossed-over works. I think I'd be nice to have them at least cameo in the sequel. I was moping when you added Seishiro as the shady Seth because you don't like writing him - he, along with the lovely angsty Subaru, is one of my all time favorite CLAMP characters.
| fudgicus chapter 27 . 12/8/2012
Can't wait for more kurofai-y goodness, and looking forward to see more of Clarence Reed and DEFINITELY more of Zack and Averil - possibly my new fave! Tanya, Amy and and Susan were wicked cool also, loved seeing them represented that way: the lawyers part was really clever! Loved the portrayal of Yuuko also, and Karen just stole my heart all over again. First with the gloves, then with kissing Ril's collarbone better - safe to say I was AWWWWing like a freak. Wondering if you have any plans to bring the X/1999 characters into the sequel? Just really like the way they were portrayed in Drinks and Subtle Things (seriously: Kamui/Fuuma is my new OTP. With DouWata a seriously close second - really liked their cameo in D&ST too) with a surprising Ian/Gray coming in third. This made ALL my Ginsei feels come back... On the other hand, WHERE THE HECK IS KUROFAI? Ah well)
Would really rather not see Gray and Ian if they are going to end up with people other than each other. I appreciate that you want to stay true to their characters but every scene with them so far has been ridden with similar potential to the Caleb/Finn scenes. I, personally, with everything they've been through thus far, feel that them ending up with female OCs is as much of a cheat as the CLAMP ladies rewriting TRC with Kurogane and Tomoyo ending up together and Fai beginning a new life with Chii. As such, VERY VERY cheated. I do feel quite strongly about this, so if the response of others is so different to and greater than my own, I would request that when you post the sequel, you leave a warning in the beginning A/N. nothing spoilery, I'd just like to know.
On another, much lighter note, do realise how much the Zack/Averil story made me fall (even more) in love with the pairing. The scene with Lee and the others eavesdropping on Finn and Caleb and ohgod the PANTS and /"I'm going to kill Zack Williams!"/ - the very highlight of the story. More please?
I also loved, though it was very brief, Chii's appearance and the portrayal of her relationship with Fai. (Also, sex therapist? SO much lol for that!)
Hate to go off on a nastier tangent, but I have just realised that if you DO think there is no choice but to have Ian and Gray be sodding straight (sorry - strong feelings for this relationship) and DO decide to limit their appearances as such, does that mean we'll see less of Dovie and Alex? But I love them! No!
On one final note, I would like to say a huge, massive thank you for writing this story. The events of TRC and xxxHolic have been incorporated into the modern world so well, so accurately, so believably. This story was researched with such dedication - thank you.

Like I said, here's my end review. This story is amazing and I'm going to go look for the sequel after this. I feel like I could read this forever until every character has died off and there isn't any characters left to make a story with. I also enjoy your ocs. I can't answer your questions here since this is an old story that's already had questions answered. But thank you very very much for writing this, I love it.
| Centikkime chapter 18 . 11/13/2012
I'd like to start off saying that I REALLY enjoy this story so far and I'm quite sure it will be added to my favorites once I finish it.
But this one thing bothered me, and it looks like no one has pointed it out?
"He felt weird, still, laying his hand on her hairless head. But he did it, because he wanted her to know that he was here for her. If she tried to tell him to leave her alone like she'd told Lee, he would just ignore her—like he thought Lee was probably going to do.
She was crying harder, now, her tears wetting his arm along with her sweat-dampened bangs"
HAIRLESS head and sweat-dampened BANGS. I'm pretty sure she doesn't have bangs if her head is hairless? I'm sure this was just a little detail that got skipped over but I thought I should mention it since it is kind of a big mistake. You're probably not interested in fixing it since this story is old but I just wouldn't feel right not mentioning it. I really do enjoy this story and that little slip hasn't ruined anything, it just made me a little confused as I read it. I'm kind of surprised no one else has noticed as far as I can tell [I checked the reviews]. Well, I'll send in another review when I finish reading this wonderful story!
| siochana chapter 27 . 9/7/2012
At first I had a little trouble picturing the characters in the new setting with different names, but as I read through the story, I was honestly impressed by the way the story mirrored the canon. You did a wonderful job of staying true to the nature of each character and their relationships with each other. It was a treat to read and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
| yumeniai chapter 27 . 8/24/2012
Oh wow, I loved this! The entire story was wonderful, I actually had to stop reading for a couple of days halfway through because it was just way too sad with Sara's leukemia and Finn's growing problems ... but everything resolved itself perfectly in the end! Well, obviously not everything with the Clarence Reed thing (CLOW IS ALIVE. OMGWTF. THIS MUST BE THE FIRST TIME IN ... EVER.) Though I'm starting to get more and more scared about Averil and Lee ... (they are actually twins, right? They're not like some kind of ... adopted ... mishmash? They have birth certificates dammit ... but what else could it be? After all Lee looks like his dad so that must be Syaoran senior ...)
Anyway ... does it have to be OCs? Must it be OCs? Clamp-verse is so huge, even just Tsubasa and xxxHolic verses are so huge, are there absolutely no characters you could see working with them? I'd love to see their stories, but I always hate having to get to know new characters in fanfiction ... it's fine if they stay minor characters but the way you're writing it sounds like they would be quite major in the story. Like for Ian, the girl whose body Kobato had (the original one he fell in love with? We know a little about her character ... though I suppose that would be weird as that would be too much like Dovie and would be rather wrong to him ... but then again your Dovie deviates quite a bit from Kobato who is a bit less level headed and more flighty-sweet.) And ... I don't know, I'm pulling this completely out of a hat here, but someone like a humanfied Spinal Sun or Ruby Moon ... I would suggest Yue or Kero as well but then they always seem too male to be the androgenous figures they're supposed to be.
Really, I'd be fine with OCs - as long as they stayed in the background enough to allow themselves to stay supporting and not important characters. Either way, I'd love to read their stories - and if I disliked it enough then I'd probably just skip those parts and read on with the rest. The world you've built here is too compelling to just give up!
The sequel ... ahh, really can't wait for it! Will Sebastian and Tanya end up together? As Tanya/Tomoyo is lesbian in original Cardcaptors but the two would work together so well ...
And it would be cool to see Kamui and Subaru somewhere around there (and Fuuma? Maybe as Kurogane's physiotherapist as he was the one to bring Kurogane his arm in canon?), and though Seth is an absolute asshole I'd like to see him actually get arrested (or somewhat resolved more than just running away ...)

Your story was so amazing, Im not sure I can think of a single bad thing to say about it. The characters were really great, including their backgrounds and all. Im super excited to read a sequel should you make one! .
| Holly-Batali chapter 27 . 7/18/2012
You know, I first heard about this story by looking at konnichipuu's fanart for it and my first thought was that it sounded good, but the changing names thing stopped my from reading it. But then I just got even more curious, and I decided, "oh what the hell, why not give it a try?"
I am so glad I did. This story is incredible. The way you managed to incorporate everything into this (Karen and her mother, Caleb killing Arthur, Finn's parents, "princess" Sara and her health problems-have I mentioned my adoration for Tanya?) is nothing short of superhuman. Honestly, I have to stop myself from calling them by their English names now when I actually watch xxxHOLiC and Tsubasa!
This was a very long story, but it felt shorter than it was (in a good way). It was condensed enough to make a good read but long enough to take a while (thankfully, it didn't drag, which was what I was afraid of when I started reading this story and saw the wordcount). It set itself up perfectly for a sequel and was KuroFai awesomeness without the smut (which I love you for).
I went from, "Finn? Caleb? Lee and Sara? Oh HELL no!" to, "where the HELL is that sequel?" in less than 48 hours and will forever love you and you writing!
