I’m also not a Rahl/Kahlan shipper (because Richard and Kahlan just have that chemistry with each other), but after “Reckoning,” the Rahl/Kahlan pairing interests me a lot. I sometimes wonder what could have been, even though Richard and Kahlan are pretty much destined to be together. One of my disappointments in Season 2 was that we got no Rahl/Kahlan moments. We had “Conversion” and “Reckoning” in Season 1, and in my opinion, there’s unfinished business between Rahl and Kahlan. It was in “Reckoning” that I started to like Rahl as a character. Until the moment where he slapped Kahlan after she tried to kill their son, he definitely did not act like the evil tyrant that everyone made him out to be (he was definitely tender towards Kahlan and seemed to have at least some affection for her), which showed that there is more to him than what first meets the eye. Since then, I have grown to like Rahl as a complex, unpredictable character. You never know what he is going to do next, and that fascinates me. I like how you acknowledged that Rahl wasn’t cruel towards Kahlan, and I wish that Kahlan would have acknowledged that in the actual episode. Anyways, I really liked this one-shot piece. “Reckoning” left me wanting more Rahl/Kahlan interactions, and I like it whenever people write “Reckoning” pieces. Good job.

Very Nicely done i don't think i ever
read a fic that went into the background
of Rahl and Kahlan like that..But Great job..
I'm more of a R/K Shipper but seeing that Kahlan
did it for Richard makes all the more Sweeet D

Very interesting and well written. I would be interested in a sequel which would address Kahlan's emotions and thoughts after the birth of Nicholas when Rahl didn't kill her as she thought he would. Would that make her question her assumptions even more? It would also be intriquing to know Rahl's thoughts during the same events that you depict in your fic.
Again, good job - it makes me feel sad, for both Rahl and Kahlan. In spite of all the evil he has done, I think Rahl is a man who has never been loved and who desperately wants to be loved.
