If she didn't want her announcement to be perceived wrong, why did she say it like she did lol? Also, making something that strong of a taboo might work on some, but I really don't know about that one. My parents let me drink at home starting at like 14 or 15. Not excessively, mind, but with them and on events like new years or the Fourth of July, Christmas, etc. And at 16, pretty much whenever I wanted at home when we had barbecues and such. Also, they had no problem at all with me or my siblings having sex as long as we used protection. I think having things forbidden or having a moral judgement on what people enjoy is just odd.

Maybe the chain for the time turner just extends to however long it needs to be when it is pulled? It IS a magical object after all.

I missed the stuff you pointed out about the prices here. But I knew she was bad at math due to book 3. In the book, Rowling states Harry spent 2 weeks in Daigon Alley before school. Harry blew up at Marge about a week after his birthday, so first week of August. He then spends rest of the time, three weeks, in Diagon Alley.
