Reviews for The Rising Sun |

![]() ![]() I reread this story every year—my absolute favourite. A masterpiece |
![]() ![]() ![]() Oh gosh, this was absolutely perfect. I’ve genuinely spent every spare moment of the past few days devouring this story. I love this characterization of Christine—remarkably warm, effervescent, joyful, and kind, yet able to rise above a level of hardship I can hardly imagine. And I appreciate how carefully you mapped out time and location here; the world you’ve created feels fully realized, especially with the constantly switching narrators. Erik and Christine’s life by the sea is so lovely—a sweet outcome for two well-deserving people. |
![]() ![]() Lemme get this straight. You put Christine in Persia, already married to Raoul, before the Palais Garnier has even been built. You let Erik kill the khanum. You put Erik in between the khanum and Christine, had them sing Marriage of Figaro, like tiny lil idiots, you made Erik do something *cute*, and you let Erik kill the khanum. I’m writing this after just reading the first couple of lines of this chapter, so I could be wrong, but I think you let Erik kill the khanum. The level of delight I feel is entirely Erik-esque. You let Erik kill the khanum, didn’t you. Someone poisoned Christine in front of Erik, and he’s gonna kill. This is insane. It’s beautiful. It’s so wrong. You’re broken. What is wrong with you? Are you seeing anyone? Are you free Friday? Did you just let the Phantom of the Opera kill his absolute best enemy? What even are you? You’re bonkers. Don’t stop. Would you like an editor? Let me know. There is a deep understanding of Erik’s brokenness, and every layer of this story. It may, regrettably, be impossible to perform dissections on oneself, but I am willing to help you figure out how your brain works, in that way. You are ruining my life because I can’t do much until I read all of this. You need to be put in a lab and studied. Beautiful lunatic. |
![]() ![]() ![]() This story has been stuck in my head for ten years and I randomly remembered it today to come back and favorite. Sympa! |

![]() ![]() Poor Murina :'c |
![]() ![]() I love so much this Christine... |
![]() ![]() Oh my god! Erik! Why are you so helplessly tsundere! |
![]() ![]() ![]() I love this stiff-necked Erik to bits! Even though I wish Raoul hadn't perished and Christine would have a fair chance to make a choice between the two men. I absolutely love the development of their mutual feelings, the slow burn and the painful but sweet self-restraints from both sides out of moral obligations. I love their journey together and whenever I feel down I read those chapters and wish their journey never ends. Thank you for this beautiful beautiful story! |
![]() ![]() ![]() Can I just say again that this is one of my top three favourite phanfics of all times. I love this stiff-necked Erik |
![]() ![]() ![]() So, I binged this lovely little fic in two days; it was impossible to put down. To start, the character development! Erik's softening personality complimented Christine's strength well. The plot was just as full of action as it was romance, and I ate every chapter of it up. The only criticism I have is Nadir's lonely ending. Other then that? A proud 5 star rating. Thank you so much for taking me on this journey! |
![]() ![]() ![]() This was crazy beautiful. soso beautiful. |
