|Reviews for War By The Numbers|
| Guest chapter 3 . 4/19/2014
I want to say that I think your tale of having them go into the Time War would be more interesting than the Day of the Doctor. I have mixed feelings for that episode but won't bother you with them. :)
In the first chapter, you said you had the first eight chapters. Could you upload them anyway? Since you have no plans to continue, I feel slightly awful for asking but really want to read them! But since you said you had them already done, I just had to ask.

This was an interesting read. You have a great setup for this story. Currently Rose's part is slightly confusing or maybe like you said 'a bit out of place' but I have full faith that you could bring her and Ten and Eight into the mix with Nine and Amy. Of course the story is abandoned but want to compliment what you have written and point out the oddness of Rose's sections. Have a good day!

Just found this and LOVED it. All of the characters are so in character, if you get my drift.
But what happens next?! After the first chapter, you said that you had 8 chapters written, but you've left us hanging after only 3. And you haven't updated for more than 2 years.
This story has so much potential, please, please write more.
| Auggie chapter 1 . 4/14/2013
THIS IS EPIC.
Just so you know.
Also, the characterization for each Doctor is perfect. Looking forward to reading more if you're willing to write more.

This is among the best fanfictions I have ever read. Ever.
Your portrayal of the Eleventh Doctor is perfect, and I'm sure so is your portrayal of the Ninth and Tenth*. You have Eleven's personality nailed - all of his angstiness and his attempts to hide it (and how Amy and Rory can see right through it). The same is with Amy and Rory - you've somehow managed to capture their dynamic perfectly as Time Agents instead of 21st century-somewhat-normal-people.
You handle shifting perspectives and exposition perfectly (the shifts between points of view make sense and are done smoothly; you plant hints so that the readers understand what you want us to figure out, but not so obviously so that it feels patronising - like when the Eleventh Doctor accuses Amy of being a Time Agent in the prologue), and your style of writing is professional and, for lack of a better word, sleek. It just - flows. And has a unique lilt to it - at times grand and subtle and ominous and snarky and, for lack of a better metaphor, as if the TARDIS was telling the story.
Speaking of the TARDIS, you capture her relationship with the Doctor, again, *perfectly*. It feels genuine and something that has truly existed for centuries, unlike a lot of writers who drop random, sporadic hints of affection between the two.
And the plot is fascinating. I'm interested to see where you're taking this - anyone who can make sense of the Time War (or at least tell a story capturing its scale and complexity) is bound to be good. Uh - if that makes sense. It's also nicely paced. So there's that. :P
And I could pretty much spend my entire character limit listing out the brilliance of this fanfic. The plot, again - it feels multi-layered, with small episodes with a deeper, underlying *thing* driving the entire story. Just like a Doctor Who series, and really, any good story. Characters amazing. Even the Monk feels authentic and well-rounded - a rarity for OCs in any fandom. And I *love* how you manipulate the English language. Especially during the flashbacks and 'in-between' parts. They're just - beautiful.
This is fanfiction at its best, and this review really does not pay it justice.
Can't wait to see more!
*I'm pretty new to the fandom, and I'm only familiar with the Eleventh Doctor

Just wanted to say that I'm fascinated! Hope you have a chance to keep working on this one. Seems like it will be brilliant :)
| Ocean's Nocturne of the COCA chapter 3 . 1/21/2012
This seems so interesting: I love that you incorporate all the Doctors! A bit disjointed, but the good kind of disjointed, where you know everything will come together and suddenly make sense (coughMOFFATcough). :D I look forward to the next update!

I'm confused but simultaneously intrigued. Please update so I can understand more! :)
| MaryMatthesen chapter 3 . 6/13/2011
I'm in for the ride... do hope you update again, this is really intriguing. Thanks for posting!
| Psychofan chapter 3 . 5/18/2011
This is very confusing, what with only having two chapters. :c I really, really hope you update it sometimes soon, because I am super fascinated. And excited.
| Aietradaea chapter 3 . 4/5/2011
Aah! I /knew/ it'd be the Meddling Monk! :D Awesome!
Why is Amy /so/ much cooler as a Time Agent? This actually makes me inclined to almost like her! :P
Makes me wonder who else might show up, too...
Gonna deliver on those promised eight chapters?
| baby gyrl chapter 3 . 2/15/2011
This is shaping up to be really interesting. I am looking forward to where you go with it. I like the characterization of Amy and Rory, and how you show their relationship.
| Omniac chapter 3 . 2/12/2011
*fan girl squeal* How'd you know that Nine's my favorite? haha! The reasons that I started reading this were mentions of "the Time War" and the "9th Doctor", but I'm staying for the intriguing plot and...well..the Time War and 9, I guess. Eccleston's short-lived stint as the Doctor is a part of why I read Who fanfiction; I just can't bring myself to move on, even though I will admit that Eleven is very entertaining. Anywho, I really like your story and the skipping forward and the going back and the swip-swapping. It strains my brain, trying to decipher it and thinking about how it's going to fit in. Great story! Can't wait! Til next time!
| Bartimus Crotchety chapter 3 . 2/10/2011
I have to say you write Nine brilliantly. Eccleston's manic smile always made me happy on some visceral level.
I have to say I am impressed with Eleven, and having a ball with his tenure so far (having almost given up Who during the over acted Tennant years...I know I will get evil looks for daring to say that but there you go!)
However, Nine actually moved passed Four as my favorite Doctor...no small feat that! So to see him portrayed in your work as the fundamentally damaged but resilient and far too short lived Doctor who reintroduced us all to that world has made me smile and believe me that is something for which I am grateful!
