| Rexnos chapter 4 . 9/6/2013
Cauthrien was a rather interesting character who didn't receive nearly enough time on screen in DA:O. Her dedication to Loghain was rare and rather unique in a game world so rife with betrayal and malice. The game was really rather unforgiving towards her, just as it is to Loghain. I can appreciate a story that provides something of a happy ending for both of them.

I liked this a lot. Your Amell intrigues me, and I enjoyed seeing the softening of Loghain under Cauthrien's relentlessness.

I hate you marginally less than I previously did. In fact, I'm considering actually answering you the next time you bug me about how "heroic" it was to drive your people out of my country. With significnatly less sarcasm than usual.
...please don't tell anyone.
| mutive chapter 2 . 11/30/2010
Thank you so much for letting me hang out with Cauthrien until she wakes up. I appreciate the gesture, and have a good feeling about this, if you know what I mean...
P.S: Please tell Leliana that the shade of the rose petals doesn't really help things...
| mutive chapter 1 . 11/30/2010
Have I ever mentioned that you're kind of a jerk? Because you are.
...why do I love you anyway? Oh, yeah, because you saved me from a life of poverty and misery.
...totally looking forward to hanging out with you until our Calling.

I very much like what you did with this story and the whole lot of interlinking stories. I'm loving your Marcus, and totally sympathetic to everything you've done with the range of characters. Looking over the whole linking web, you've managed to
1. deny Loghain a "just" death but given him a chance to have a better second life
2. given Cauthrien a chance to atone for her support of Loghain's terrible actions, given her a new responsibility and an old love
3. given Alistair a terribly hard time, maturity and an affectionate (perhaps even loving wife). You also gave him a chance to royally screw Loghain over, which I must admit had me cheering for him. Sometimes revenge-sex can have a lot of good results *evil g*
4. given Anora a really satisfying lover, some heart ache, and a chance to have a loving, devoted and hard working second husband.
Really, there's only Marcus (who loved and sacrificed that love) and Teagan left without romantic happiness. And I can totally understand why pragmatic Marcus has made the choices he had to. Is there any chance that he will eventually find someone to love who can love him back and deserve him?

I loved this story it is very well writen and an interesting look at Loghain. I like the interaction between Loghain and Cauthrien, it deffinately fits their character. Thanks for the great story.
| EdenLake chapter 4 . 8/21/2010
Allow me to add to the compliments about your Amell character. This isn't really his story, and the characterization of him is obviously 100% your creation, and yet his character comes through just as strongly as Loghain, Leliana, and the other established characters. Really well done.
| Siu Jerk Jai chapter 4 . 8/20/2010
I'm so glad you finished this. It's such a great little piece about exactly how difficult it would be for a man like him to change direction in his life, even if it's toward something he wants. One of the things I loved about him in the game post-Landsmeet is that even when he starts to accept that he may have been wrong, he's still throwing his opinions in people's faces. You captured that so well-despite his arrogance and bitterness, he's wise enough and experienced enough to see his own faults and even accept when someone he respects points them out.
And I really liked that he does seem to have respect for Amell. Must have more Marcus!

I'm sorry to see this come to an end. It was very well done. I particularly liked the Wynne and Loghain interaction in this chapter. Leliana was too funny with her porridge.
| Arsinoe de Blassenville chapter 4 . 8/19/2010
The end? Too bad! I enjoyed this very much. Leliana was especially endearing, with her porridge and her kind words. I hope you write more within this universe.
| Piceron chapter 3 . 8/17/2010
I really like how you did this chapter. Cauthrien's words to Loghain were in character for her, and I like the thought that maybe in letting go of all his burdens and sacrifices he made for Ferelden Loghain can finally have a little something for himself. Thanks for writing this story.
| Arsinoe de Blassenville chapter 3 . 8/17/2010
Yes! Together at last! This makes perfect sense. In Awakenings, when Loghain makes his brief appearance, he's in a terrific mood-practically cheerful and perky. Becoming a Grey Warden, and setting aside all those miserable burdens-never having to deal with the obstreperous, ungrateful Bannorn, not having to do anything but fight-appears to have been tremendously liberating. In your story, he is also able to accept the love of a woman who is his equal. Unshackled is right!
| Piceron chapter 2 . 8/13/2010
I like how contained your Amell character is. I always thought that the mages would be more used to sitting back and examining a situation than rushing in without a plan from their time in the tower. I'm interested to see how you handle the interaction between Cauthrien and Loghain when she wakes.
| Arsinoe de Blassenville chapter 2 . 8/13/2010
I do like your calm, authoritative Amell. Interesting leader. No wonder Alistair never grew up, since Amell could step in and be a father figure despite his young age. Not criticizing, just observing. The emotional interplay was very well done: Loghain's anguish, Leliana's tender-hearted sympathy, and Amell's benign understanding. Personally, I think Leliana should join, too, unless she's holding off in hopes of someday being a mother. At any rate, your three wardens are pretty impressive!
