|Reviews for Casey vs The Cost of Duty|
| Ms. Chips chapter 1 . 9/2/2010
I'm so glad you're continuing with this series! I do think there's still a lot of story left to tell regarding Alex and Kathleen. I'm happy to see that he didn't completely forget her while serving his country. And you've raised an interesting question about how Casey sees General Beckman. I like the idea that she commanded him even while he was Black Ops. I wonder how much Beckman knows about Casey's past, as well as what she knows about Col. Keller, the officer who recruited Alex Coburn and promptly killed him off for family and friends back home...
I'll toss out two possible moments that deserve investigation. One is obvious: we need Kathleen's POV when she discovers that she's pregnant and then is informed that Alex was killed on duty. The second is what was going through Casey's mind when he met Ilsa? Granted, we have to give some forbearance for evolving back stories on the show, but Casey does describe her as "the love of his life" long before we knew about Kathleen and Alex. Has he separated himself completely from Alex by that point, or is he hoping to rekindle a little part of Alex's openness and emotional vulnerability after too long in the field?
I really do hope you'll write more in this series. It's so different from anything else out there, and it's a great way to get into Casey's head. Excellent job with the story!
