it's like watching' the show in my head!
| Saratai chapter 5 . 7/6/2013
Just saw your note from July 2013. I hope you do get the story finished - I am hanging on to see if you get more chapters up - I check periodically!
| Guest chapter 5 . 3/9/2013
When are we getting chapter 6? I'm waiting desperately!
| ebfiddler chapter 1 . 12/18/2012
"Wash could have installed them in his sleep. Kaylee could have installed them drunk and asleep." - "Wash did a quick systems check - two arms, two legs, one head. All properly configured and no leaks apparent. Respiration was a go." - I started keeping a list of favorite phrases that made me laugh, and soon realized I was going to be quoting half your gorram chapter. I think maybe "Tower of Id" to refer to Jayne may be my favorite, however. Excellent character voices, good writing. I love the set up, the hints of backstory, the interplay between Zoe and Wash, Book's reasoned plan, and the comic potential of Wash and Jayne on an adventure together. I will definitely be reading more of this story, and will be back to review again. Thank you.
| Jadzia Bear chapter 5 . 12/13/2012
Another awesome chapter. I love the way Wash's thoughts power on, paying no attention whatsoever to Brother Will's gardening advice. No wonder Wash is doing such a rubbish job in the greenhouse, he's not even paying attention!
'Leafy growing things' and 'church-sanctioned pornography' - that's so Wash! And nervous potatoes, LOL! Also 'Mr. Swing-First-and-Ask-Questions-Never'. I'm not sure if that's more Wash or Ella, but I love it too :)
I really like Jayne's logic about marriage. I also love how you think he's kind of got it wrong but then you realise he's totally right. Looking forward to the next chapter!

I'm so glad you're returning to this story! Not only do I love the way you write these characters, and Firefly fic in general, but it was a bit sad to think of our boys being left stranded in the snow for all eternity! I'm glad to see these latest chapters are getting some nice reviews (in fact it even made me a little nostalgic to see names from the Firefly fandom that I haven't seen in a long time!).
This chapter throws me right back in to the fantastic narrative voices you use for both these characters and reminds me just how much I love your witty sense of humour. And just everything about how you 'sentence', to be honest! Your work is always jam packed with lines I love, but one in particular I really like is: Jayne swatted the notion away with his hand.
Jayne being unwilling to lie to a priest maybe seems a bit odd at first, but the idea of him being religious becomes plausible very quickly as you read. In fact, I believe they even said something about Jayne being the religious type in the Firefly 10 year reunion tv special (or whatever it was) that aired recently, in reference to the moment where he removes his hat at the funeral at the end of The Message.
Finally, I LOVE the idea of Jayne having a secret crush on Kaylee, thanks for weaving that in there!

When is the next chapter? I can't wait to read it!
| Guest chapter 5 . 12/7/2012
Please, please, finish this story. I'm totally caught up in it and so glad you started writing it again!
| Thescarredman chapter 5 . 12/6/2012
So glad to have you back, Ella, if only for one story. You haven't lost your touch. For the record, you're the funniest lawyer I know.
| RionaEire chapter 5 . 12/5/2012
Hi! You know I'm the one who really enjoyed your last story, right? Anyways your writing is always so clever, funny, significant, entertaining, few around here have the wit that you have a chara. Even though nothing particularly notable happened in this chapter it was interesting and kept my attention, as all your chapters do, seeing Wash and Jayne's relationship develop is interesting, I hope it develops to a place where Jayne has some sort of respect for Wash, of some kind. I understand Wash's dilemma, I think though that he will go see the prison camp and find out more, because he wants to understand as best he can, even if his understanding is minimal or vague. I look forward to the next chapter. I loved the "gangreen thumb" bit. I think being here is going to do Wash and Jayne some good, though Jayne seems poised to gain more from it than Wash at this juncture.
| Bytemite chapter 5 . 12/4/2012
I always like the Wash silly, and how it ties relevantly into the story, but is still Wash silly.
Self-pleasure in CHURCH? Well Wash, I think Jayne's... rubbing... off on you oh gawd what did I just say? D: This is what you started, I blame you. My mind is young and impressionable!
Andersonville. I kinda think their POW camp might've been like that myself.
| Guest chapter 4 . 11/5/2012
I'm so glad you picked this back up. I so enjoyed your previous chapters; it's a great storyline. And then...it wasn't finished! So disappointing...And so great that you are going to finish it! yay! Can't wait to see what Wash will learn at the camp.
| CaptainBluntschli chapter 1 . 10/22/2012
Great beginning and definitely an interesting premise. Fantastic job with the overall tone and I especially enjoyed the detail you've used setting the scene as well as the voices of the characters- can really see the world unfolding and the predicament Jayne and Wash are in. I'm curious to see where it goes. Thanks for writing! :)
| ronissooomine chapter 4 . 10/17/2012
I love this- always loved Jayne - but this is awesome. Can you put something in about Jayne having fought with Mal or having been at the camp same time as Mal? I've always thought there was a reason why Mal didn't space Jayne after he betrayed them on Ariel.
Anyway- please keep going. I totally follow the Dr Who and/or Sherlock (isn't the actor great?!) obsession, but would be really grateful if you finish this first.

Wow, you're back! I have missed you! I really enjoyed our correspondances and I'm glad to see more of this fantastic story. I still love your ability to write Jayne, dialect, thoughts, perspectives and all. Your chemistry between him and Wash is spot on, like watching an episode, I can see it clearly in my mind's eye. I'm glad you aim to finish this story. There's just something about Firefly that brings people back 'round, "You never really leave Serenity Valley, you just learn to live there".
