I really like the format for this story! I haven't really seen anything like this. I like Severus... and I think you did a good job interspersing little anecdotes from the future, to give us a picture of what has happened.

I like your take on parselmagic as well. :-)

Oh, my! He *is* going to greatly alter the timeline, isn't he? I daresay that Petunia won't be overjoyed to see him but she *will* listen and, hopefully, get Vernon to go along; if they fall in, then Dudley will have less incentive to be nasty. In any case, it's going to get right interesting to see what other influences Severus Snape can place, perhaps encouraging Harry to make friends of the more intelligent in his class (Hermione and Padma, I'd say for certain, and likely some in Hufflepuff and Slytherin, too - not Draco but I can see Daphne Greengrass and Tracey Davies as two possibilities since they aren't much described in canon).

I admit, I'm a sucker for a good Snape mentors Harry story, so you had me with your summary. This is an excellent start. Very entertaining, and a great premise. I don't think I've seen a 'Snape goes back' story before.

And for me, no Horcruxes is an added bonus.

Please keep it coming - much too good to be abandoned.

In general I don't like Snape. And I really hate Snape as a father figure stories. That said, I can't wait for more of this. It doesn't follow the normal crap plot of those type of stories and I can't wait to see where you take it.

Cool first chapter. Has heaps of potential to explore the good side of Snape. I think that the best way to describe the effect of time travel here is not a butterfly flapping it's wings causing a hurricane on the other side of the world, but a weather-control machine causing a hurricane directly underneath it :)
