Reviews for Diary of an Ugly Girl |

![]() ![]() ![]() I wish I could throw around all the fancy words that exists, trying to express how amazing this story is, but I don't know them, or at least not in English, and I think were I to try in Danish, you'd think I spoke about autumn and pumpkins and flying blankets in a secret cursed language. Thank you for this amazing story, I envy your way with words, you did perfectly,I. I adore the silly imperfect girl, I adore the young adorable man, I love the quirky way you've managed to mix them together with the heavy topic of the story, without taking away from either. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Good lord. Just, wow. I'll have you know I was so invested that I went to sleep at 4 am this morning to keep reading as much as I could , and I just went through the motions of my day until I got to finish this. You have such a way with words, I feel them so deeply. So deeply. Having never been one of the "pretty" ones, this Bella spoke to the insecure teen self that still lives within me. I've learned to accept and love my body as it is and for what's given me, and to treat it with kindness and respect, but that inner voice that stays with you is hard to silence. That said, the overall theme about individual realities is on point. I hope one day my reality will include inconditiinal self-love and acceptance of life as it comes. Thanks for sharing! |
![]() ![]() ![]() I want to know what it's like inside your mind. It must be such an amazing, brilliant place to reside. Because, well, you astound me. Each of your stories have such depth, amazing character development, plot, spins, surprises. You were 19 when you started this fic? how.. I... Tell me you're a published author and where to find your novels. Just as I'm writing this, I got a notification of your new story, so Imma bounce over to that. But I wanted to say thank you. I would have benefited so much to read this story when I was younger, because I recognize myself in so many of Bella's thoughts and views of herself. Not ugly, not beautiful, but at the same time she is so beautiful because her inner self is so damn amazing it shines through. Edward says he thinks she's beautiful the same way my husband does, and it took me a long time to believe him. So thank you for sharing this. |
![]() ![]() ![]() good warning from Emmett even if knew she had heard some |
![]() ![]() ![]() jumping in on this story. Interesting start. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I just wanted to pop in and officially non-lurk. I love this story. I found it after I discovered Alaska, which I also loved. I really admire how you create fully fleshed-out characters, stuffed to the gills with flaws and quirks and lovable bits. So, thank you. Your stories are sweet and thought-provoking and I love your Edwards! -Jen/mlbd |
![]() ![]() ![]() I loved this story. Every word. Every emotion. I felt them all. You spilled your heart on the pages in the most beautiful array of poetry and grace. I’m so glad you shared. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I think Edward is going to fall for her brashness and friendliness. Looks aren’t everything. |
![]() ![]() It's "gross," not "grose." |
![]() ![]() ![]() Bella's journey sure had many twists and turns to pull her from the harm others inflicted toward the young woman fixed on protecting those that are targeted by others. I shed many tears as I read your story. I sincerely enjoy all of your stories. This one hits home. I am thankful that her healing was not kissed by the blessing of closer. Most who experience sexual abuse or sexual harassment never get answers or apologies. Thank goodness that doesn't mean we are doomed to be trapped by the trauma. Thank you for the gift of your words. Thank you for taking the time to write about the complexity of healing and how valuable acceptance and support can be. I look forward to reading more of your work. |
![]() ![]() ![]() amazing story encompassing very important issues... so well done! |
![]() ![]() ![]() ... what a presumptuous ant LOL! |
![]() ![]() ![]() the angst of it is hard to read. His bio father a mystery and the reason for his adoption, and his age so much to think about. |
![]() ![]() ![]() SPOILER WARNING FOR NEW READERS This is without question one of the best fics I’ve ever read. You’re a really talented story teller. Thank you so much for sharing that with us. Your characterisation is deep, moving and meaningful. The plot is surprising and well paced while never feeling forced. The depth of emotion rings true throughout every chapter and the topics you’ve covered matter a great deal. As someone who’s been bullied and who has also been repeatedly SAed I feel like the voice of that is so authentic and I am very grateful to you for that. The lack of ever really being able to understand why or how someone (in my case several someones) could do that and feel totally entitled to, and the fact you have to live with never getting answers, but all the personal devastation is really captured well in this story. Edward is beautiful, fragile and complex in a way he is rarely written, but that totally captures the reasons why I love teaching teens and why I get so mad when people talk crap about them. Bella is a force of nature and I wish I had an iota of her strength, perspicacity or acceptance. I am glad I at least feel that I do have her love for everyone around her and can see a little of myself in this story in that way. Thank you. I’ll be reading your new fic and all your others too no doubt. |
![]() ![]() ![]() One of the best stories I've read this year-and I am a voracious reader. Loved the character development and the pace of Edward and Bella's relationship. I love deep, rich stories. Thank you. |
